festival
1st October 2007 - ongoing
This has got to be the festival of the season…
Oxjam as always adds fun and musical mayhem to a good cause. Giving it that extra oomph, this year’s Oxjam will provide hardcore music lovers 500 days of continuous music. With last year’s event toppling 18,000 on the participants’ front and generating £500,000 for Oxfam, the stakes are raised for 2007.
In making a difference fans, the charitable and the generous will devour large-scale festivals and local sponsored busks too, to raise money and fight poverty around the world.
Showing support will be the mighty heavyweights of the UK charts, Fatboy Slim, The Kooks, Jamelia, Jarvis Cocker (and plenty more) ... all of which will be launching a month-long Oxjam music festival on the 1st October with a series of exclusive performances in a specially-converted Oxfam shop…
Kooks singer Luke Pritchard, who performs on the opening night, said:“Oxjam is all about thousands of small events adding up to something much bigger, so it’s great to join in by playing a small acoustic show. Even better, music fans can get involved, whether coming along to this show or going to a local Oxjam night."
With 300,000 nationwide expected to take part – you can’t be the odd one out!
What to take: Money, and lots of it – it’s all about give, give, give…
What not to take: A tightwad
People you are likely to see there: Rising stars, glitzy lasses wanting to bag a rock beau, the moppy and sloppy dresswear and the generous…
