A friend revealed to the Independent newspaper: "When he moved to New York, he arranged a lease with an American bank for the gothic pile in Hampstead. "And the banker who lives there is certainly not moving out just because Boy George has decided he wants his home back." A source close to the star added: "It is the only place he feels at home. He is devastated." The gay icon arrived back in Britain after being charged with drugs offences in the US earlier this month. The singer was held for 20 hours and quizzed by New York police after cocaine was allegedly found in his Manhattan flat. When he arrived at Heathrow airport the former Culture Club frontman refused to comment on the allegations.
He told reporters: "Don’t ask me any questions because you are not going to get any answers at all." Officers are said to have uncovered the stash of narcotics after the star - real name George O’Dowd - reported a burglary. Police searched the 44-year-old’s swanky apartment and allegedly uncovered the haul.

Boy George has arrived back in Britain after being charged with drugs offences in the US.
The singer was held for 20 hours and quizzed by New York police after five grams of cocaine were allegedly found in his Manhattan flat.
When he arrived at Heathrow airport the former Culture Club frontman refused to comment on the allegations. He told reporters: "Don’t ask me any questions because you are not going to get any answers at all."
Officers are said to have uncovered the stash of narcotics after the star - real name George O’Dowd - reported a burglary on Friday (07.10.05). Police searched the 44-year-old’s plush apartment and allegedly uncovered the haul. It is understood the ’80s icon will deny the charge and claim the drugs belonged to someone else, according to a report in Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. His lawyer, Louis M Freeman, is quoted in Britain’s The Independent newspaper as saying: "Boy George doesn’t know where the drugs are from. He’s a very social person. He has a lot of people over to his apartment."
The singer - who faces up to 15 years in jail if he’s convicted of the charges - will return to the US for a court hearing on December 19.

Boy George latest kiss and tell biography Straight, Boy George with Paul Gorman is more of an assault on his fellow stars than a look at his own exploits. Not so much a biography (he covered that ground in a previous book (Take It Like A Man) it’s as much a bird’s-eye perspective of George and his public dealings with everything from fame, gay culture, successes and failures.

Boy George has hit out at George Michael in his biography for taking too long to come out to the world. The Culture Club singer slammed George for keeping his sexuality a secret until 1998 - when he was caught performing a sexual act in an LA public toilet. He calls him a ’hypocrite’ in the book and also criticises the toilet incident, saying that it stereotyped gay men as rampant.
