"I’m loving it but it’s really hard work," she said. "I was so busy last week - there was a fabulous salad waiting for me but I couldn’t get my mitts on it. "Later when I had the chance to eat I filled up on crisps and s***."
Charlotte takes a tumble - Sept 1, 2020
It seems Charlotte Church’s new talk show has had some teething troubles. The Welsh warbler’s talk show debut was apparently beset with problems - leading one insider to brand it "a shambles".
Things started to go wrong when 20-year-old Charlotte fell over a cable after belting out a tune. "I can’t believe I f*****g fell! I hurt my knee. What an embarrassment. I’ve scragged my tights," she yelled.
Later on in the show, which saw Charlotte chatting to Denise Van Outen, the band started playing too soon and backstage noises could clearly be heard. At one point curvy Charlotte seemed to get her lines in a tangle.
Overall, it took more than two hours to record the first episode of the 50-minute show. "It wasn’t a disaster... but it was a shambles," an insider told the Daily Mirror.
"Charlotte was actually very confident, but it was a long recording and a lot went wrong. When it’s edited, viewers will see a different and better show. But Charlotte was a strong presenter." The first episode of The Charlotte Church Show will air on Channel 4 at 10pm tonight.
Charlotte has stopped Paris Hilton from appearing on her show - Aug 30, 2020
Charlotte Church has stopped Paris Hilton from appearing on her TV show after the American socialite demanded £350,000. Charlotte, whose debut TV show starts this Friday (01.09.06) on Channel 4, said Paris wanted the "obscene" amount to be interviewed.
She told Britain’s Radio 1: "We asked Paris to be on the show. I thought it would be funny to make fun out of her because she’s such an airhead but she wanted a ridiculous amount of money. Having her on would have cost us the price of a big house - £350,000. It’s pathetic. It’s not as if she would say anything earth changing."
Charlotte also revealed that she would be singing the theme song to the show every week, and that one of the verses will be changed every week to make it topical.
Despite looking forward to the start of the programme, the Welsh singer admits it has been hard work. She said: "It’s not just a chat show. There will be a band on every show as well as a comedian and there will be comedy sketches too. "I’m really looking forward to doing it. I thought it would be nice to have a break from singing, but I never realised how much hard work it would be. "When you’re recording you have to spend so much time doing promotional work it can be really tiring so I thought this would be easier. But I was so wrong. I’ve been working like a donkey."
Charlotte takes on Wossy - Aug 29, 2020
Watch out Jonathan Ross! Charlotte Church reckons she’ll be poaching the chat-show host’s viewers when her new talk show goes head to head with the king of the couch on Friday night. The 20-year-old was herself a guest on the GMTV couch today - getting in some last-minute publicity for her Channel 4 show.
Asked if she thought she would take viewers away from the hugely popular Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, she confidently answered "definitely".

Five years later and Charlotte was making a name for herself at local karaoke competitions, and then...
"I was watching the Richard and Judy show on TV and they said they were looking for talented kids. No-one was around so I phoned up," she says. "The producers said I had to sing down the phone. So I did ’Pie Jesu’ and that was it, I was invited on the show. Mum and Dad were the last to find out!"
This led to even more television performances, as well as high profile concerts at the London Palladium, the Royal Albert Hall and Cardiff Arms Park. "It all went a bit mad!" laughs Charlotte.
Now eighteen Charlotte has become a media icon. A ill advised relationship with ’model’ and all round bad boy Steven Johnson and on going arguments with her mother have put Charlotte very much under public scrutiny, but it has only made her more popular. Charlotte will turn her hand to anything these days, she presented Have I Got News For You? made a guest appearance on a dance track and even starred in a film, I’ll Be There. She is a chat show regular, openly voicing her opinions about fellow stars in a very down to earth way.
She may be one of the richest teenagers in the UK after coming into her fortune on her eighteenth but Charlotte Church is as normal as they come.
