Chris Moyles
- Profession: DJ
- Place/Date of Birth: Leeds, 22 February 2020
As Chris, 33, earns £630,000 a year to front the BBC’s flagship morning show, the price tag seems unlikely to put him off.
A BBC spokesperson told the Mirror: "Following on from his appearances in Hotel Babylon and the hit movie Cars, we think Chris would be a natural in one of Quentin’s movies and totally support him with this new film career."
Record listeners for Moyles - Aug 16 2007
Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles has posted record ratings yet again.
The breakfast show host now has 7.26 million listeners - up 200,000 on the previous three months and 470,000 on this time last year.
And he is closing in on the nation’s favourite breakfast DJ Terry Wogan, who is now just 660,000 listeners ahead.
Chris’s unstoppable rise helped Radio 1 reach an audience of 10.87 million, a quarterly increase of 320,000 and a yearly increase of 450,000.
The figures from industry body Rajar cover April-June 2007.
Radio 2 has 13.1 million listeners, a slight drop on the previous quarter.
Wogan remains the nation’s favourite breakfast host, adding 40,000 listeners in the past quarter - although at 7.92 million he is not too far ahead of Moyles.
Jenny Abramsky, the BBC’s director of audio and music, said: "These figures show a remarkable quarter for Radio 1.
"The network’s distinctive music programming, combined with an innovative use of digital technology, have ensured it remains as relevant as ever to young listeners."
The figures include listening for Radio 1’s Big Weekend event, which took place in May and included performances from the likes of Kasabian, Scissor Sisters and Razorlight.
Heart’s Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott are London’s top commercial breakfast show hosts with 874,000 listeners.
They snatched the crown from Capital FM’s Johnny Vaughan, whose audience dropped to 836,000.
And the Moyles effect does not seem to have a grip on London - his listening figures in the capital fell from 970,000 to 939,000 over the quarter.
DJ Moyles has Royal listener - June 26 2007
Prince Harry has given motormouth DJ Chris Moyles the royal seal of approval.
Harry revealed himself to be a fan of the Radio 1 breakfast show host in an interview with Fearne Cotton.
The 22-year-old and his brother Prince William spoke to the presenter ahead of this weekend’s Concert for Diana.
"I listen to more of the radio than anything else - then you don’t have to go and buy the records," Harry said in a discussion about his music tastes.
"It’s much easier to listen to the tunes on the radio and Chris Moyles, I like him a lot."
William and Harry have organised this Sunday’s concert at Wembley Stadium to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her death.
It features performances by Diana’s favourite acts, including Sir Elton John and Duran Duran, plus artists chosen by the princes, among them Joss Stone and Kanye West.
"It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate her life," Harry said.
The interview will be broadcast on BBC One on Friday.

Within months of his employment he was awarded Sony’s DJ of the Year award and by the end of the year he had bagged the prestigious drivetime slot which saw him become one of the country’s favourite DJs. After five years he was finally given the most sought after Radio One job - the presenter of the Breakfast Show, swapping places with Sara Cox. Moyles, along with sidekicks such as Comedy Dave and Aled Haydn-Jones, managed to quickly push the audience up to over 6.5million.
Moyles has been regularly lambasted for his lack of political correctness and has come under fire for racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia after comments made on air. He also hit the headlines over pay controversies - crossing the picket line during BBC strikes to present his show and pick up a £630,000 paycheque.
