"I was Mr Marmite, that’s how I got my card. I wore a jumper at the Reading Savacentre. It’s terrible," he told The Sun.
The 39-year-old is thankfully a lover rather than a hater of the spread.
He said: "At 7.30 in the morning I find myself buttering toast with Marmite. Marmite is so great. It wakes you up."
The star, whose debut as 007 won him rave reviews, recently hinted that there will be more comedy moments in the next Bond outing.
It remains to be seen whether these will involve a Marmite jumper.
More comedy in next Bond? - July 13 2007
Daniel Craig has apparently hinted that there’ll be more comedy moments in the next Bond outing.
The 39-year-old, whose debut as the double agent won him rave reviews, said that 007 filmmakers were hoping to bring back the laughs that Roger Moore introduced to the franchise.
"They [the producers] want more gags," the Daily Express quoted him as saying. "The next one’s going to be a lot funnier. Octopussy and Pussy Galore style gags. They’re all great names - but that’s the thing, the Bond jokes will be flipped on their heads."
He also hopes to show a softer side to the character.
"Bond is supposedly the most male moment in film but to me, he’s never been macho," he added. "That Bond is something Sean Connery created in Dr No.
"I don’t know Sean but I wouldn’t want to meet him in a dark alley - he was a big strong guy and he had a big male presence about him.
"Everybody was in an uproar when he was going to be James Bond. He got flack because he was basically an Edinburgh bricklayer. And everyone who read his books thought how can he possibly do it?
"But he created a style that was unique and kind of sexy."
He concluded: "There’s no point trying to compete with every Bond that came before. You manage to make it your own."
Bond concerns over Daniel’s Arctic trip - June 1 2007
He may have jumped from crane to crane in his debut outing as James Bond, but apparently that didn’t stop 007’s producers from worrying about Daniel Craig’s safety during his latest project.
The Casino Royale star has been in the Arctic Circle filming The Golden Compass - an adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials novel - where polar bears caused some trouble on set.
And the film’s director Chris Weitz told the Daily Express that those in Bond HQ were rather worried when they found out about the wildlife.
"I guess they were a little concerned that having discovered their new James Bond in Daniel, we then headed to the Arctic Circle where the polar bears were a constant and deadly threat to the crew," he said.
Daniel, meanwhile, was not phased by the experience.
"As a massive fan and avid reader of all of Philip Pullman’s novels, I was happy to go through the usual hardships," he said.
Daniel to swap 007 for fading star - May 21 2007
Daniel Craig has signed up to play a washed-up British Hollywood actor.
The hunky star, who won rave reviews for his turn as James Bond in Casino Royale, has been cast in Flashbacks Of A Fool.
The movie, announced at the Cannes Film Festival in France, also features British stars Helen McCrory, Olivia Williams and Emilia Fox.
Daniel, 39, who is more in demand in Hollywood than ever before following his first outing as 007, plays a star in his 40s whose allure is starting to fade.
