Gest to sell pop memorabilia - Oct 31 2007
David Gest is apparently set to sell over £1 million of pop memorabilia.

The I'm A Celebrity star and music producer is putting 600 items up for auction - saying that his time in the Aussie jungle made him less materialistic.

"Since my appearance on I'm A Celebrity and my permanent move to the UK, my life has changed dramatically," the Daily Star reported him as saying.

"I no longer need a lot of the materialistic things I once felt so passionate about."

Items that will go under the hammer are set to include 120 gold records from the likes of The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, an original Supremes' Motown recording contract and sheet music signed by his friends such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Dusty Springfield.

The auction will take place at Bonhams in London on December 5.

David Gest show axed? - July 13 2007
David Gest’s show This Is David Gest has been apparently been axed after ITV bosses admitted they didn’t know "what to do next".

The music mogul was given a one-year deal for his own fly-on-the-wall series after winning fans with his quirky sense of humour on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

But ITV boss Simon Shaps told The Sun: "We don’t have any plans for him. We’re not signing him to another deal - I’m not sure what you would do next."

Simon added that it might not spell the end of David’s time with the channel.

"We’ve got to match the talent with ideas - and we haven’t had any ideas for him. I wouldn’t rule out working with him in the future."

David was made a judge on musical reality show Grease Is The Word but the show also flopped, with producer Simon Cowell even admitting it had been "slaughtered by the critics".

A spokesperson for ITV was not immediately available for comment.

Gest appearance in Hollyoaks - June 21 2007
As if David Gest isn’t on our screens enough, it seems he might be making a cameo appearance in every teenager’s favourite soap, Hollyoaks.

The 54-year-old recently declared his love for the Channel 4 soap, almost immediately after meeting Gemma Merna, who plays Carmel McQueen in the show.

The Grease Is The Word judge met Gemma plus Carley Stenson and Ricky Whittle, alias Steph Dean and Calvin Valentine, at a party in Manchester on June 15.

The foursome were said to get on well, and a Hollyoaks spokeswoman told Digital Spy: "David Gest is a big fan of Hollyoaks and spent the evening with some of the cast.

"He has since spoken to one of our casting directors about the possibility of him appearing on the show."

The programme is currently tackling some of its most dramatic storylines yet, as evil villain Clare continues her vicious attacks all across the village.

Not content with destroying Katy and Justin’s relationship by telling hardman Warren about their alliance, she will also tell Calvin about Louise’s abortion and will convince little Tom he was responsible for his parents death and should never be allowed near Max again, prompting social services to take him away.

However, it appears her cruel actions will force one person over the edge, when Clare gets pushed from the Loft balcony this Friday.

The who-pushed-Clare storyline is set to run all summer - perhaps David will appear to save the day and catch the criminal.
