Emma goes downtown for Pudsey - Oct 20 2006
Emma Bunton is releasing this year’s official Children in Need single.
The former Baby Spice is recording her own version of the Sixties classic Downtown, originally a hit for Petula Clarke.
Emma, 30, currently a favourite on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing, said: "I am honoured and delighted to be asked to do this on behalf of Children in Need.
"I’ve always loved Downtown as a song and I’m really looking forward to putting my own stamp on it."
She added: "The track’s good fun and one everyone will know. The video should be a good laugh.
"I’ve asked all the Strictly guys to come along if they have time and show off all the hard work we’ve been doing and hopefully there will be a few other surprises in store too."
Emma will be performing the official song on the Children in Need night on November 17 on BBC1.
Last year, when Children in Need raised £33 million for charity, Liberty X released the official single A Night To Remember.
The new single is out on November 13 to buy or download.
