Geri to host TV chat show - May 11 2007
Geri Halliwell is being lined up to host her own ITV1 chat show.
A pilot episode is being filmed in a few weeks’ time and if it proves a hit with TV bosses, the show is set to land a primetime weekday slot.
The 34-year-old is likely to rope in her celebrity friends as guests - the one-time Ginger Spice counts George Michael and David Walliams as her close pals, as well as her former bandmates of course.
A source told Broadcast magazine: "It’s really early days but the idea is that Geri could really get to the heart of issues with her guests."
The pilot is being made by Talkback Thames, the company behind The X Factor.
Talkback confirmed it is in talks with Geri and the format is in development.
The singer is currently in the process of reinventing herself following the birth of daughter Bluebell Madonna. In addition to her TV career, she is writing a series of children’s books to be published next year.
Spice Girls ’reunite at christening’ - April 23 2007
Four out of the five Spice Girls reunited yesterday for the christening of Geri Halliwell’s daughter, Bluebell Madonna. See photos of Bluebell Madonna’s christening.
Former bandmates Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm joined more than 100 guests, including the baby’s godfather Kenny Goss, boyfriend of George Michael, at the Parish Church of St Michael in north London to celebrate the christening, according to reports.
Bluebell’s 34-year-old mum wore a blue mini-dress whilst the 11-month-old herself was dressed in a traditional white smock gown.
Posh - who is the little girl’s godmother - arrived without husband David, and looked delighted to see her former singing pals.
Guest Lady Isabella Hervey told the Sun: "It was good to see the other girls back together and getting on so well. Geri looked stunning."
Melanie Brown, who recently gave birth to her second child and Bluebell’s father screenwriter Sacha Gervasi were absent from the party.
The 90-minute ceremony apparently included music by 12 gospel singers and afterwards guests were whisked away to a private location - said to be Geri’s home.
Geri becomes children’s author - April 13 2007
Pop star Geri Halliwell has announced a new career - as a children’s author.
The former Spice Girl, 34, says she began putting pen to paper when she became pregnant with her daughter Bluebell Madonna, now 11 months old.
She says that creating the book’s heroine, nine-year-old Ugenia Lavender - who like Bluebell takes part of her name from a plant - was "like a rebirth".
Geri cites her literary influences as greats like CS Lewis, Enid Blyton and Oscar Wilde and adds of her books: "There is a positive message in there, but it tastes like chocolate not cabbage."
The UN Goodwill Ambassador, who recently announced she was quitting the pop world, was signed up by Macmillan Children’s Books after calling the managing director of the publishing house out of the blue.
Geri, who has published two autobiographies, also announced a new song to accompany the series.
She says: "One of the greatest gifts in life is actually to love what you do. For me, writing Ugenia Lavender is one of them."

In the 1990s Geri became one fifth of the worlds biggest girl band and has never looked back. Along with Mel B, Emma, Mel C and Victoria, she scored some of the biggest hits of the decade, made a feature film and raked in the cash through sponsorship deals. But in May ’98 Geri made the shock announcement that she was to leave the band to persue a solo career.
She sold her Spice clothes to raise more than $200,000 for a cancer charity, journeyed to Uganda for Comic Relief, was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations, and even got to sing "Happy Birthday" to the future king of England, Prince Charles.
Nearly a year after her departure from the Spice Girls, Halliwell released her debut solo album, Schizophonic, whose sound is a self-described cross between "Julie Andrews and Johnny Rotten." The album, released on Capitol Records, contained Halliwell’s first single, "Look at Me." which went to number 2 in the charts. She followed up the success of Schizophonic with Scream If You Want To Go Faster in 2001. After going solo, Geri moved to LA, formed an unlikely close relationship with George Michael and told all to the press about her eating disorders after losing an incredible amount of weight and releasing two yoga videos.
Geri is now back in the UK, working on new material and a reality TV show which will follow the format of The Osbournes. She’s also back to her old busty ginger self!
