Gwyneth Paltrow
- Profession: Actress
- Place/Date of Birth: Los Angeles, California , 27 September 2020
- Associated with: Chris Martin
The 34-year-old Oscar-winner has had some time off to concentrate on her family - husband Chris Martin, two-year-old daughter Apple and son Moses, ten months.
However, after returning to work for her brother Jake in his Sundance hit The Good Night, Gwynnie tells USA Today: "I haven’t done a real part in a long time. I’m going back to work now."
First up will be a love interest role, playing Pepper Potts in comic book blockbuster Iron Man, opposite Robert Downey Jr.
But the star reveals that it will take a lot to get her onto a movie set.
"When I had kids, I just wanted to be with them," she says.
But as a creative soul, working "makes you more interesting as a person and as a wife and a mother".
Nonetheless, don’t expect her to start popping up everywhere - Gwyneth is only planning to do one movie a year.
Gwyneth joins cast of Iron Man? - Jan 17 2007
Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow has reportedly joined the cast of new film Iron Man.
She will star alongside Robert Downey Jr and Terrence Howard in the flick, reports Variety.
Based upon Marvel’s iconic Super Hero, the film will tell the story of Tony Stark, a rich inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon.
Tony manages to build a high-tech suit of armour and escapes. When he returns he decides he must use his new powerful armour to protect the world.
It’s thought Gwyneth will play Virginia "Pepper" Potts, Stark’s personal assistant.
Kevin Feige, president of production at Marvel Studios, said: "These are popcorn films designed for broad audiences, but there are multidimensional characters that have brought us the best luck with actors."
Iron Man is being directed by Jon Favreau and is the first motion picture to be produced by Marvel under its alliance with Paramount Pictures. It is due to be released on May 2, 2008, according to a statement on www.marvel.com.
In the statement, Mr Feige added: "We’re thrilled to be launching the summer 2008 movie season with Iron Man. Marvel has had great success with the first Friday in May - Spider-Man broke records on that first Friday and X2 debuted at the top of the box office charts as well."
Gwyneth still a Brad fan - Oct 27 2006
They may once have been engaged, but there’s clearly no bad blood between Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt, if Gwyneth’s review of Brad’s new film is anything to go by.
The 34-year-old mother of two trotted out to a screening of her ex’s latest flick, Babel, in New York on Tuesday night and told the New York Daily News afterwards: "It’s the best performance Brad’s ever given."
The Oscar-winning actress even predicted a possible Oscar nod for Brad, with whom she split from in 1997 after a two-year relationship.
She added that Brad’s hard-hitting new film, in which tragedy strikes a married couple holidaying in Morocco, "makes you want to take good care of your children."
The actress was so moved by the film that she told the New York Post that she was skipping the after-party to "go home, cry and hug her children" - daughter Apple, 2, and son Moses, 6 months.

The Paltrows moved to Manhattan, New York when Gwyneth was 11 years old, where she would watch her Tony award-winning mother perform at theatre festivals, inspiring the young Gwyneth to become an actress herself, an ambition which resulted in a starring role in a production of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Gwyneth returned to Los Angeles in order to attend the University of California in Santa Barbara as an art history major. While her first film role was in the 1991 film Shout, with John Travolta, her big break came along when she went out one night with her father and family friends Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw.
Big league director Spielberg was in the process of casting for his film Hook and that night, he offered Gwyneth the role of Wendy, which she instantly accepted. After her role in Hook, also starring Robin Williams and Julia Roberts, she was cast as the lead in the 1992 mini-series Cruel Doubt.
The budding actress’ resume was soon filling up, with roles in Malice, Flesh and Bone, Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, Jefferson in Paris, and Moonlight and Valentino. Although audiences were beginning to take notice of Gwyneth, the film that threw her into the spotlight was her role as Brad Pitt’s girlfriend in the thriller Seven, which is where the highly photogenic couple met and fell in love. For a while anyway.
Following this she worked on films including The Pallbearer, Great Expectations, Sliding Doors and A Perfect Murder, although her star status was really confirmed when she accepted the Best Actress Oscar in (some say fake) floods of tears.
After a brief hiatus, Gwyneth returned to the big-screen in the beautifully shot The Talented Mr. Ripley, as Jude Law’s good-hearted girlfriend. And since has filmed Shallow Hal, Sylvia and View From The Top. Following a move to swanky Belgravia where she spends time drinking herbal tea, following a macrobiotic diet and doing Yoga with best mates Madonna and Stella McCartney, Gwynnie fell in love with Coldplay singer Chris Martin who she secretly married late in 2003 while preganant with his baby, which is due this summer.
