Former New York Daily News spokesman Ken Frydman - who witnessed the incident - said the photographer kept taking photos. The furious actor then called him a "p***y" and bashed him with a manila folder. Frydman said: "The photographer kept smirking at him. He said, ’I don’t know what you’re so mad about’. " Hugh is then said to have shouted: "You’re invading my privacy. This is your last warning, you c**t." Frydman added: "The photographer kept taunting him. That’s when Grant kicked him in the butt. Not hard - he was just trying to shove him away." The man, who has not been identified, kept taking pictures as Hugh stormed off.
Hugh Grant looks like a butch lesbian- Oct 05
Hugh Grant claims he looks like "a butch lesbian" with short hair.
The heartthrob star said his ex wife Elizabeth Hurley urged him to chop off his curls but losing his trademark floppy hair was a disaster.
The "Notting Hill" star is quoted by America’s New York Post as saying: "I tried to change. I had my hair cut off by Elizabeth’s hair person. I thought it would look butch. "Unfortunately I looked like a butch lesbian. I’m pug ugly with my hair cut off. Even Elizabeth couldn’t look at me."
Hugh’s new book ’What Can I Do To Help?’ - August 05
Hugh Grant has confessed how he played practical jokes on his mother while she was dying of cancer - in a bid to keep her spirits up.
In a new book aimed at helping friends and families of cancer sufferers, entitled ’What Can I Do To Help?’, the ’Notting Hill’ actor reveals for the first time how he coped with mum Fynvola’s illness and death. Recalling his hospital visits in his mother’s last days, Hugh writes about how he made his beloved mum laugh by wearing her bedpan as a hat and blowing up surgical gloves to resemble udders. He says: "I got a bit bored and went back to tormenting her - my personal favourite being secretly activating her hospital bed so that the head and legs both lifted to put her in an amusing jack-knife position. "The inflated surgical-glove-cum-udder, the cardboard potty as millinery and gulping the patients’ oxygen to alleviate hangovers also passed the hours."
Hugh also jokes that a disastrous attempt to blow-dry his mother’s hair may have "finished her off" - because she tragically died the next day. He said: "I even blow-dried her hair on the day before she died, which was frankly not the success I had hoped for, and which may - I now concede - have finished her off." Hugh was so distraught when Fynvola died that he temporarily put his successful movie career on hold to allow him time to grieve.

In 1995, Hugh became the scandal of the year by hiring a prostitute, Divine Brown, to perform certain acts in the privacy of his automobile. His girlfriend, Liz Hurley was not amused and although she stuck by him through the scandal they finally called it quits in 2000 after 13 years together. The Divine Brown incident could well have been the making of Hugh Grant though, after this mishap he was cast in many more films and became a British icon here and in the States.
Although many of his films at this time were dubious to say the least, their ratings were bouyed by his popularity and in 1999 he made a real comeback. Notting Hill was a return to form for Grant, made by the same team that first shot to fame with Four Weddings...it confirmed his status and saw his star on the rise again. Following up his success with About A boy and Bridget Jone’s Diary which saw him departing from his usual role as bumbling English fool and made him a whole new type of heartthrob.
He has also starred in Love Actually as the Prime Minister, which saw much speculation as to whether Brits would actually prefer Grant as the leader of their country. Hugh remains a bachelor, despite rumours of a fling with co-star Sandra Bullock, and remains very close friends with Liz Hurley with whom he owns Simian Productions.
