Jason: Jungle was a turning point - Oct 30 2007
Jason Donovan has told how starring on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! was a "turning point" for him.
The 80s star had faded from the limelight and gone through a period of drug use when he signed up for the reality TV show, where he came third.
"I believe the real turning point was the jungle," he revealed.
"It allowed people to see me as me. There was interest in me as a person rather than me as Joseph or me on Neighbours, or my relationships or taking drugs. It enabled people to have an insight into Jason Donovan."
The publicity led to a regional singing tour earlier this year, the release of a greatest hits compilation and a lead role in ITV1's forthcoming soap Echo Beach, alongside Martine McCutcheon, to be screened early next year.
Jason - who has two children, Jemma, seven, and six-year-old Zac with long-term partner Angela Malloch - also credits fatherhood with changing his life.
"Children are one of the main reasons we are on this planet," he says. "My life has changed in every way. It has more meaning, less selfishness and more passion, more reasons to be alive."
Jason has recently penned his autobiography. Between The Lines: My Story Uncut, by Jason Donovan, is published by HarperCollins, priced £18.99, and is available now.
Jason: I’m not Cliff - July 23 2007
Jason Donovan has revealed that he quit Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, despite earning a fortune, because he didn’t want to become Cliff Richard.
The 39-year-old hung up his dreamcoat in 1994, before going on to appear in the West End version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The former Neighbours star told the Daily Express: "The adulation and money were incredible. But I didn’t want to be a new Cliff Richard in a satin suit anymore."
He added: "I wanted to be a bit more reckless. I didn’t want to stay complacent on one level and not be individual.
"I want to do different things in my life, and I don’t want to be perceived as the one character. God bless Cliff Richard but that was where I was going."
Jason recently toured the UK after he found fame again by appearing in I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
I love singing for my kids, says Jason - June 19 2007
Jason Donovan has revealed the best thing about being back on tour was having his children see him perform as a pop star.
The father-of-two, whose new single Share My World is out today, told the Daily Express: "The kids being there was the greatest joy for me.
"They had seen me perform in stage musicals and on TV, but it was great to show them that side of their dad. They’ve even started singing the songs around the house!"
Jason, who’s set to star at the Concert For Diana on July 1, added that the secret behind his comeback is not taking himself too seriously.
"It’s important to understand what people like about you as an act. I’m an entertainer, so I told lots of stories about mullet hairdos, Neighbours and I’m A Celebrity on the tour," he said.
"It worked out really well and I feel really proud now."
Jason has two children, Jemma, six, and Zac, five, with his partner Angela Malloch.

A string of hits including Too Many Broken Hearts and Especially For You made him the biggest male popstar of the time. However, following a turn on the West End stage in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat his career faltered, affected by a cocaine addiction.
He made a comeback in 1999/2000 as Frank N Furter in the West End production of The Rocky Horror Show and more recently has appeared in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Sweeney Todd. He lives in the UK with his girlfriend and their two children.
