Keira Knightley has spoken out for the first time about her split from boyfriend Jamie Dornan. The beautiful actress insists she is still friends with the handsome Irish model and says she is happy being single. She revealed: "All I can say is that I’m extremely happy because I’ve been able to stay friends with every person I’ve had a relationship with. "I was supposed to be ’gutted’ and there was allegedly ’crisis talks’. It’s all nonsense. I’m happy as I am. I’m single and not looking for anything." Keira says her friends have been helping her through the break-up - the reason for which the actress will not divulge.

She said: "I’m lucky I have a great collection of mates and I can do my talking to them. "Things change slowly and it isn’t simply a matter of moving on. A relationship, as every girl knows, is complicated. It’s not black and white - it’s various shades of grey. So there’s no way to explain what happened in a paragraph or two." For the meantime, Keira - who plays Elizabeth Bennet in the new movie version of ’Pride and Predjudice’ - is making do with her on-screen romances. She added in an interview with Britain’s Now magazine: "At least I’m enjoying plenty of on-screen romance with Mr Darcy."

The acting beauty also said the new man must be someone she can laugh, fight and talk with. The ’Pirates of the Caribbean’ star said she "cried a river of tears" when her relationship with boyfriend of two years, model Jamie, broke down earlier this week, but is already considering what she wants in her next man.

The 20-year-old brunette is quoted in Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "I’d go for someone who is a little bit brooding and somebody you can have a good conversation with, a good fight with, who will always keep you guessing and make you laugh. And he has to have good shoes." The actress, who split from Jamie after they decided their relationship had run its course, is currently being comforted by friends. The couple had met on a photo shoot in 2003. A source said: "Keira is devastated. She really thought what she had with Jamie was love, but it just wasn’t meant to be."

The 20-year-old brunette is currently being comforted by friends after deciding her relationship with the model - who she met on a photo shoot in 2003 - had come to an end. A source is quoted in Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "Keira is gutted. She really thought what she and Jamie had was love, but it just wasn ’t meant to be. "They both wanted it to work but in the end it was untenable. They were having crisis talks almost daily and a decision was reached to finally call it a day."

Friends claim Keira finally decided to call time on the relationship because the couple’s hectic work schedules meant the pair were seeing less and less of each other. A source revealed: "While the idea of them both sharing the same profession was romantic, the reality is that they were starting to see less and less of each other."
