Kiefer 'still great' - Oct 29 2007
Kiefer Sutherland may be anxious about his pending sentencing over drink-driving, but he's not showing it on the 24 set yet.
"Kiefer is good," his co-star Mary Lynn Rajskub told Usmagazine.com, at the world premiere sneak preview of the new season of 24 in New York.
"He's there and I haven't really talked to him about the whole DUI thing. We're all plugging away and it's been great. The spirits have been really great on set."
The American actress, who plays computer geek Chloe O'Brian on the show, added that they still have fun in-between takes.
"We party - with tea and cookies," she said.
Kiefer, who has won awards for his portrayal of Jack Bauer, pleaded no contest in his drink-driving case on October 10, and is due to be sentenced on December 21, the same day the show begins its winter production break.
The 40-year-old previously said in a statement: "I'm very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I'm deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox."
Kiefer jailed over drink-driving - Oct 11 2007
Kiefer Sutherland is to serve 30 days in prison after pleading no contest in his drink-driving case, his lawyer has said.
He made the plea to avoid a longer jail sentence, attorney Blair Berk and TV network officials said.
Under terms of a plea agreement, the 24 star will serve the sentence for driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08 percent, Berk added.
Kiefer was not in the Los Angeles courtroom.
A second misdemeanour charge, driving under the influence, was dropped.
The charges stemmed from a traffic stop in Los Angeles last month.
As part of the arrangement, Kiefer must also enrol in an 18-month alcohol-education class and attend weekly alcohol-therapy sessions for six months.
The actor could face six months in jail for violating probation for a 2004 drunken driving arrest.
Sentencing is set for December 21, the same day the show begins its winter production break.
"I’m very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I’m deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox," Kiefer said in a statement.
The actor’s plea arrangement ensures that production of 24 will not be interrupted, Fox officials said in a statement.
"His first concern was the welfare of those he worked with and that he intended to do whatever was necessary to prevent shutting down the show because of his situation," the statement said.

The son of two notable Canadian actors, Donald Sutherland and Shirely Douglas, Kiefer and his twin sister were born in Saint Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London.
Many of us 30-something film freaks will remember our first introduction to Kiefer Sutherland with the movie The Lost Boys, where he played the rather tasty, teenage fantasy vampire David, alongside Jason Patric and Corey Haim. He went on to star in a number of Hollywood hits, including Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, A Few Good Men, Flatliners, Young Guns, The Vanishing and Stand by Me.
In 2001 Sutherland was reintroduced to us via the terrorist-fighting detective Jack Bauer, in the critically acclaimed television series 24, where he proceeded to have ‘the worst day of his life’. Following four nominations for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series’, in 2006 he won the award. He was also nominated for Best actor in a Drama Television Series in the 2007 Golden Globe Awards.
Following his engagement to Julia Roberts in 1991, which ended when she ran away with his friend Jason Patric just four days before the ceremony, Sutherland has been in and out of a number of relationships. He has one daughter, three stepchildren and one step grandchild.
