"I’ve never heard her so honest, contrite and focused. Lindsay is weeding out all the bad. She’s taking a step back and re-evaluating her life. What she tells - her honesty and openness - has brought me to tears. It’s beyond words how proud I am of her."
But Michael, who has turned his life around after battling with his own addictions, added: "We’ve still got a lot of catching up to do."
And Li-Lo’s mum, Dina, commented in an email to People.com: "It can only help her recovery. It’s time to mend. He is visiting Lindsay alone because we are giving her dad a chance to make amends."
Li-Lo staying in rehab - Sept 28 2007
Lindsay Lohan will not be leaving the Cirque Lodge rehab program in Utah this weekend, as had previously been speculated, according to her mum.
Dina Lohan told Access Hollywood in an email: "Not true, staying in Utah."
The 21-year-old actress started her treatment at the facility last month - her third rehab stint this year - after she was arrested in the early morning on July 24 on suspicion for drunk driving in Los Angeles.
At the police station, Lindsay was searched and cocaine was found in her pocket, said Santa Monica police spokesperson Lt Alex Padilla.
The Mean Girls actress later issued a statement through her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, saying: "It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs."
During her time at the Cirque Lodge, Li-Lo has not been twiddling her thumbs. She has been seen taking cycling and white water-rafting excursions, and was reunited with her long-estranged dad, Michael. There are also reports that she is planning to write a book about her experiences.
Li-Lo gets court date - Sept 12 2007
Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has another court date.
A judge has refused to dismiss portions of a lawsuit against the 21-year-old over an October 2005 accident in which her Mercedes-Benz collided with a van.
LA judge Michael Stern rejected a motion that argued the lawsuit lacked legal sufficiency, and set April 7 as the date for the star’s trial.
The California Highway Patrol concluded that Raymundo Ortega caused the accident by making an illegal U-turn, but he sued Lindsay and is seeking at least £100,000 in damages.
Ortega was knocked out in the crash, according to his lawyer, Robert Klein. Lindsay and a female passenger sustained minor injuries.
Ortega’s case is that the actress was fleeing paparazzi and was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
"This case is about responsibility and she’s not taking responsibility," Klein said outside court. Lindsay’s lawyer, David Ozeran, said outside court that there was no evidence that the Mean Girls star was intoxicated.
Last month, Lindsay agreed to spend a day in jail and complete a drug treatment programme after pleading guilty or no contest to misdemeanour drunken driving and cocaine charges stemming from arrests earlier this year in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.
Li-Lo’s Emotional Reunion - Sept 10 2007
Lindsay Lohan has had an emotional reunion with her dad in rehab after an estrangement of three years.
Michael Lohan travelled to Utah on Thursday to visit his 21-year-old daughter, according to E! Online, and the pair were spotted reuniting in the parking lot of the Cirque Lodge rehabilitation centre.

Two further teen flicks followed, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and the Clueless-esque Mean Girls. The success of the two movies cemented Lindsay’s status as Teen Queen. She is currently working on a third album.
Since 2003 Lindsay has been regular tabloid fodder beginning with a rumoured feud with fellow teen actress Hilary Duff. Her weight has been a serious issue, with the actress admitting that she had ’nearly died’, before dedicating herself to getting her shape back. She has also gained the reputation of girl about town, partying hard with the likes of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton whilst dealing with a run of bad luck which has included three car crashes and some rumoured illnesses.
