Li-Lo denies drug possession - July 25 2007
Lindsay Lohan insists she is innocent of the charges against her, after being arrested just two weeks after coming out of rehab.
The star was released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of felony cocaine possession and misdemeanour driving under the influence and with a suspended licence.
"I am innocent... did not do drugs, they’re not mine. I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin’s mom. I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy," the 21-year-old actress wrote in an email to Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, the entertainment TV show reported on its website.
Police found cocaine in one of the star’s pockets during a pre-booking search, Sgt Shane Talbot said. Police initially said the actress was also being booked for investigation of transporting a narcotic but later said she was not.
The authorities received an emergency call from the mother of Lindsay’s former personal assistant saying that the 21-year-old was chasing her in a sport utility vehicle, said Lt Alex Padilla. The assistant had quit hours before, he said.
The authorities found Li-Lo and the woman in a "heated debate" in the parking lot of Santa Monica’s Civic Auditorium.
The star’s arrest comes as she still faces driving under the influence allegations connected to a May hit-and-run crash in Beverly Hills.
The actress had worn an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet since checking out of rehab on July 13 and was tested daily to support her sobriety, her attorney Blair Berk said.
She said Lindsay had relapsed and was receiving medical care at an undisclosed location.
Lindsay arrested fresh from rehab - July 25 2007
Lindsay Lohan, who just finished her second stint in rehab for substance abuse treatment, has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and possession of cocaine.
The star, who is already facing a drink-driving charge in Beverly Hills, was stopped near the Santa Monica Police Department after authorities were called about a car chasing another vehicle, said Sgt Shane Talbot.
The authorities conducted a field sobriety test on the actress and then transported her to the police station.
A breath test was conducted and her blood alcohol was between 0.12% and 0.13%, Talbot said. California’s legal limit is 0.08%.
During a pre-booking search, police found cocaine in one of her trouser pockets, he added.
The 21-year-old was booked on two misdemeanour charges of suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended licence and two felony charges of possession of cocaine and transport of a narcotic.
The star has been released on £12,5000 bail, police said.
A call to Lindsay’s publicist was not immediately returned.
Police said they received a call from passengers in a black Cadillac Escalade who said they were being chased by a white Denali 4x4.
Officers met up with the cars in the car park of Santa Monica’s Civic Centre, about a block away from the police department.
When police approached the Denali, they recognised the actress as the driver. The passengers in the other vehicle apparently knew her, but did not realize it was the star who was chasing them.

Born to a wealthy family Lindsay was nonetheless put to work from an early age. At three she was signed to a modelling agency and quickly built up a portfolio of work with the likes of Toys R Us and Calvin Klein Kids. As a teen she appeared in numerous magazines such as Elle Girl and Bliss and in television commercials for Jell-O among others.
At ten years of age Lindsay bagged a role on American soap Another World which she soon abandoned when offered a big screen part in the remake of The Parent Trap in which she played twins. The part brought her to the attention of filmmakers throughout Hollywood and ensured future parts would roll on in.
Made for TV movies and a short lived sitcom part followed before Lindsay, then sixteen, was offered another cult remake - Freaky Friday - alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Two further teen flicks followed, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and the Clueless-esque Mean Girls. The success of the two movies cemented Lindsay’s status as Teen Queen. Closely followed by Herbie: Fully Loaded Lindsay hoped to make the transition to adult film star smoothly however 2006’s Just My Luck was not well received. More serious roles are set to follow in Georgia Rule, Speechless, A Woman of No Importance and The Best Time of Our Lives.
As well as acting Lindsay had taken the opportunity to showcase her musical skills in her films and before long she was taken under the wing of Mariah Carey’s ex Tommy Mottola. Her debut album, Speak, was released in 2004 with the single Rumours earning critical acclaim. 2005’s A Little More Personal included a dramatically intimate track aimed at her father who had spent much of Lindsay’s life in prison. She is currently working on a third album.
Since 2003 Lindsay has been regular tabloid fodder beginning with a rumoured feud with fellow teen actress Hilary Duff. Her weight has been a serious issue, with the actress admitting that she had ’nearly died’, before dedicating herself to getting her shape back. She has also gained the reputation of girl about town, partying hard with the likes of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton whilst dealing with a run of bad luck which has included three car crashes and some rumoured illnesses.
