Lindsay celebrates 21st in rehab - July 3 2007
She may have turned 21 on Monday, but there was no big birthday bash for Lindsay Lohan, currently undergoing a stint in rehab at the Promises centre in Los Angeles.
Instead of partying the night away with friends at a Las Vegas nightclub as planned, Li-Lo was joined by her mum and siblings for what has been described as a quiet family celebration.
Back in May, the star told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres: "I’m going to milk it because it’s a big birthday."
However, the Mean Girls actress and serial partygoer appears to have turned over a new leaf, after being spotted out a couple of days before her birthday, looking fit and well at the swanky Chateau Marmont LA hotel drinking tea, diet coke and water.
"She’s turned things around at least for now," said an observer. "She wasn’t really noticed at all and was in a good mood."
Lindsay checked into Promises last month following her arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after crashing her Mercedes-Benz on Sunset Boulevard.

The tabloids’ favourite
Lindsay Lohan is rumoured to be in talks about playing socialite Paris Hilton, just fresh from prison, in a movie about her life - and Britney could be involved too.
An insider told the Daily Mail: "There have already been negotiations with a major film company to make the Paris Hilton biopic with Lindsay Lohan playing Paris - and Paris and Britney Spears singing the soundtrack."
The three stars are rarely out of the headlines and the trio have previously been seen out on the town together - with Li-Lo and Brit both heading to rehab clinics this year, while Paris has just finished 23 days behind bars.

Lindsay Lohan spends longer in rehab? - June 21 2007
Lindsay Lohan may be due to check out of rehab at the end of this week, but it seems the actress could be extending her stay at the
The Mean Girls star checked in on May 28 but the New York Post’s Page Six reports a close friend of the actress who reckons Li-Lo isn’t rushing her recovery because she’s determined to get her health back.
The friend said: "She is staying in Promises for longer than a month. We don’t know how much longer because of her work schedule, but she is taking rehab very seriously this time and not messing around."
It’s the second time the actress has sought help in the last five months, after checking in for the first time back in January.
Clients at the Promises Centre usually stay for a month - which will be up by the end of this week.
And if she stays longer the actress could be celebrating her 21st birthday on July 2 in rehab.
Reps for the star have already confirmed Lindsay cancelled plans for a massive

Born to a wealthy family Lindsay was nonetheless put to work from an early age. At three she was signed to a modelling agency and quickly built up a portfolio of work with the likes of Toys R Us and Calvin Klein Kids. As a teen she appeared in numerous magazines such as Elle Girl and Bliss and in television commercials for Jell-O among others.
At ten years of age Lindsay bagged a role on American soap Another World which she soon abandoned when offered a big screen part in the remake of The Parent Trap in which she played twins. The part brought her to the attention of filmmakers throughout Hollywood and ensured future parts would roll on in.
Made for TV movies and a short lived sitcom part followed before Lindsay, then sixteen, was offered another cult remake - Freaky Friday - alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Two further teen flicks followed, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and the Clueless-esque Mean Girls. The success of the two movies cemented Lindsay’s status as Teen Queen. Closely followed by Herbie: Fully Loaded Lindsay hoped to make the transition to adult film star smoothly however 2006’s Just My Luck was not well received. More serious roles are set to follow in Georgia Rule, Speechless, A Woman of No Importance and The Best Time of Our Lives.
As well as acting Lindsay had taken the opportunity to showcase her musical skills in her films and before long she was taken under the wing of Mariah Carey’s ex Tommy Mottola. Her debut album, Speak, was released in 2004 with the single Rumours earning critical acclaim. 2005’s A Little More Personal included a dramatically intimate track aimed at her father who had spent much of Lindsay’s life in prison. She is currently working on a third album.
Since 2003 Lindsay has been regular tabloid fodder beginning with a rumoured feud with fellow teen actress Hilary Duff. Her weight has been a serious issue, with the actress admitting that she had ’nearly died’, before dedicating herself to getting her shape back. She has also gained the reputation of girl about town, partying hard with the likes of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton whilst dealing with a run of bad luck which has included three car crashes and some rumoured illnesses.
