Liz and Leary are they or aren’t they at it? - 09/03/01
The Irish-American comic-turned-actor Dennis Leary made the acquaintance of Hugh Grant’s ex while shooting films Double Whammy and Dawg and since then, the two have been seen wining and dining on a number of occasions. Inevitably, rumours have been circulating and Leary is making the most of them. In an episode of the Leary’s new series, Liz has a cameo - wisely playing herself - and is photographed kissing her co-star as they leave a restaurant. The picture then ends up on the front page of a newspaper, sparking a scandal. In real life, however, Leary’s people are being a bit more cagey. His agent pointed out that the actor is still married and has two children. When pressed, he insisted that ’Liz is just a friend’, although a pal of Liz’s was a little less certain about the status of their relationship, saying: ’We’re not quite sure what to make of it; they’re either very good friends or something more.’
Liz attached by fur protesters 01/03/01
Elizabeth Hurley was attacked last night by an animal rights protester for sporting a white fur coat at a celebrity bash. The actress/model was making her way to the VIP area of the Sunset Rooms in LA when a woman screamed ’You murdering bitch!’ and threw a glass of red wine over the ?8,000 coat.
An eyewitness said: ’It was a bit scary - the woman just appeared from nowhere. Liz was a bit shaken but not hurt.’ Liz was attending the 35th birthday of actor Billy Zane, also attended by Denzel Washington, Matt LeBlanc and a host of other celebrities. The New York Post reported Miss Hurley "fled" from the scene after the incident.
Ironically the British actress has a track record of helping animal charities - she recently paid ?30,000 to help buy an island in Uganda to stop the destruction of a colony of chimpanzees. Despite this she has a habit of wearing fur to high-profile parties and has enraged animal rights protesters before. Liz has a number of films awaiting release, including Servicing Sara, a comedy alongside Friends’ star Matthew Perry, hopefully they will fair better than her last film Bedazzled, which performed poorly at the box office, both in the UK and US.
Our Liz refuses to be fooled with fake Rolex 23/02/01
Liz Hurley is currently filming Servicing Sara alongside Matthew Perry, it was however not her performance on screen that grabbed the attention, more what she was demanding off. The incident that caused astonishment among the crew involved a scene in which Liz had to be filmed wearing a Rolex watch. Liz, who is used to the best things in life, detected instantly she was being palmed off with a fake.
Apparently Hugh Grant’s ex refused to wear the offending item because, she said, the audiences would be able to tell it was counterfeit. The film is already way over budget, but Liz got her way in the end and persuaded the producer to splash out ?6,000 on a genuine, top-of-the-range, diamond-encrusted Rolex. A spokesman is reported to have said: ’Elizabeth wanted to wear a real one because the fake looked fake and she is playing a millionaire.

While ex-boyfriend Hugh Grant has been getting all gooey-eyed over Ally McBeal star Portia de Rossi, apparently Liz has been romancing American millionaire Steve Bing.

At 21, Hurley got her first film role in the 1987 film Aria after having attended the London Studio Centre on scholarship. Hurley’s role in the film Remando al Viento that same year could be considered a crucial one, as it also starred her future boyfriend Hugh Grant.
However, despite acting and modelling jobs it was a certain safety pinned Versace frock that made Liz on of Britain’s most famous faces. She wore what would soon simply be called ’that dress’ to the premiere of Hugh’s breakthrough film Four Weddings and a Funeral. More attention followed when Estee Lauder signed Hurley to be the face of their cosmetics.
Although together for several years, even sticking together through the embarrassing Divine Brown incident, Hugh and Liz split in 2001 although they remain friends to this day. Liz had a brief fling with billionaire Steve Bing, during which she became pregnant with her son Damien. A very public battle occured during her pregnancy with Bing claiming that the child was not his. Liz found vindication when the child was born - not only was he the spit of Bing but a dna test proved without doubt what we could all see.
Liz is now engaged to Indian businessman Arun Nayer and their impending nuptuals have been the source of much speculation with several dates touted and even Hugh Grant has been suggested as Arun’s best man.
Meanwhile Liz’s career has taken a forward leap. Her acting credentials may be lousy (Bedazzled anyone?) and her stint as presenter of Project Catwalk might have been panned but the very British beauty has found her niche. Elizabeth Hurley Beach, her own range of beachwear has been flying off the shelves in the UK and US while her Estee Lauder job goes from strength to strength.
Liz splits her time between Ampney Crucis in the Cotswolds and California.
