Peaches slams skinny culture - Sept 12, 2020
Peaches Geldof has slammed super-skinny stars for promoting an unhealthy body image. The pretty socialite has landed herself the job of reporter of Tonight With Trevor McDonald and one of her first tasks has been to talk about super-slim celebs.
"I am 17. As a teenager I am surprised by images of beautiful women, thin models on the catwalk, quick fix diets to make us thin, the essential staples in our culture of thinness, hyper-thin is today’s celebrity standard," she says on the show, which will be aired later this month.
"The body shape that young girls aspire to look like isn’t real. No one could actually ever look like that,"" adds the blonde, who is the daughter of Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates.
Peaches will be on Tonight With Trevor McDonald on September 22 on ITV at 8pm.

Despite her young age she’s already a fully fledged media darling. She writes for The Daily Telegraph (on such subjects as not getting let into films and her embarrassing web-blog) and ELLEgirl magazine. She has also appeared in two documentaries, including ’Peaches Geldof: Teenage Mind’, filmed over a half-term holiday by her fathers production company. In 2006 Tatler magazine placed her at number seven in their list of Top Ten Fashion Icons.
She is known for being somewhat precocious, an image encouraged by her outspoken views. She decries the ignorance of her peers, described foxes as ’vermin’ at the height of the hunting controversy, supports Tony Blair (’It’s hard to run a country’, apparently) and George W Bush, and has expressed her support of the war in Iraq. After seeing Farenheight 9/11, she said she was ’disgusted’, and described Michael Moore as a playground bully. Kids these days, eh?
She lives in Chelsea with the family, and is studying for her A-Levels. She has expressed interest in going on to study English and Journalism at university. Past boyfriends have included 21-year-old Llewelyn Graves, the grandson of the poet Robert Graves and Alex Bradley, singer in London band Trafalgar. She has also been linked to comedians Russell Brand and Noel Fielding as well as Pete Doherty.
