The judge sympathised with him, saying: "It’s a hard road, isn’t it? It’s not easy.

"All we can do is provide the network. You have to do all the hard work."

Pete praised his doctor but admitted he hadn’t seen her recent review.

"I think you ought to," said the judge. "She refers to your journey out of addiction."

His next review in court is scheduled for October 17.

As he left, Pete posed and signed autographs for fans.

He was picked up in a black BMW. As he got into the car, he picked up a guitar and strummed a few notes to the press.

Pete court drug treatment review - April 18 2007

Pete Doherty will appear in court today after a judge previously said she was "optimistic" about his progress in beating his addiction to drugs.

The Babyshambles frontman attended a review of a drug treatment order before District Judge Jane McIvor at Thames Magistrates’ Court in east London in January.

The judge told the singer that she was even more optimistic than she had been at his previous review in October and, as a result, his case need not be reviewed as frequently.

"I would like to think it’s more optimistic than the last review in October," the district judge said previously.

She told Pete his doctor had referred to the "great effort" he was making to beat his addiction.

"But it’s a long process and there is another nine months to go," she said.

"This is more optimistic but we cannot take the pressure off. It takes day-to-day effort."

Defence counsel Bruce Clark agreed that the star’s progress was "encouraging".

"Most people would have failed by now," he told the judge.

Pete was ordered to return to court today for another review hearing.

Pete dedicates song to ’fiancee’ Kate - April 13 2007

Pete Doherty dedicated a song to his "fiancee" Kate Moss as he performed a special solo gig in London.

The supermodel appeared alongside the Babyshambles frontman as he took to the stage at the Hackney Empire.

As he introduced the track KP Nuts, he said: "I am dedicating this song..." before the crowds interrupted him to shout "Kate, Kate". The singer then replied: "Yes, to my fiancee."

Kate then appeared on stage to sing a chorus after she reportedly flew in from Los Angeles especially for the show.

The impromptu double act came during An Evening with Peter Doherty, billed as a show including "poetry, readings and acoustic songs" and some "very special guests".

Kate was wearing a ring on her engagement finger as she performed briefly alongside her boyfriend, who was wearing a grey suit, colourful necklaces and his trademark hat.

An apparent home video of the song, featuring the pair, has already become a hit on the internet after it was posted on YouTube.

Pete is seen strumming a guitar for the camera while warbling a song as Kate enters the room in a see-through dress with only a pair of knickers underneath.

Throughout the track she swings in a 70s-style chair suspended from the ceiling and kicks her legs to the music.

At one point she interrupts, saying: "Sonny and Cher we’re not".

YouTube has already recorded some 31,000 hits for the three-minute clip.

Pete given ultimatum? - April 10 2007

Pete Doherty’s Babyshambles bandmates have apparently given him an ultimatum - it’s Kate or them.

The rockers are said to be annoyed that their troubled frontman spends so much time with his supermodel girlfriend, and want him to put in more hours with the band.

Biography

It’s hard to believe that just a couple of years ago we didn’t even know who Pete Doherty was now that not a day goes by when another entry to the PD catalogue of disasters is published in the tabloids.

A long and drawn out battle with drugs, an especially fiery relationship with Croydon’s favourite daughter and any number of bust ups and arrests has made the singer/songwriter one of Britain’s most recognisable faces (all be it a screwed up, sweaty zombie face).

Born on March 12 1979 in Hexham, Northumberland and living at various times in Liverpool, Shepherd’s Bush, Coventry, Dorset, Cyprus and Russia, Pete Doherty first came to the public’s attention as one half of the singing songwriting duo who fronted Britain’s must see band, The Libertines, who kick started the country’s new garage rock scene in 2002/03.

Debauched backstage shenanigans and frantic but brilliant shows saw The Libertines hit the headlines time and time again and their debut album, Up The Bracket, shot up the charts. However, the band’s success was to be short lived and numerous problems, between Pete and the rest of the band (specifically with best friend Carl Barat - the pair met when they became flatmates in Stoke Newington) saw them part ways but not before Pete hit the headlines for drink and drug problems which caused him to steal from his bandmates to feed his habit.

It was around this time that Lisa Moorish gave birth to Doherty’s child, Astile but, rather than settling down Pete carried on taking heroin, selling his ’My Drug Hell’ stories to any and every tabloid to pay for his out of control habit before being put in to several rehab clinics (including a Thai monastery), none of which have changed his ways.

Nonetheless he has managed to forge a career on his own, first working with Wolfman on For Lovers then forming Babyshambles, initially as a way to make money for.you guessed it! Now trying to get clean with the aid of Naltroxene after an arrest for assault, which resulted in some jail time as well as a curfew and constant supervision Pete is reportedly set to marry supermodel Kate Moss.
