But he walked free on a technicality when police failed to bring him before the courts within a 24-hour legal timeframe.
A fortnight earlier, the musician had been warned to kick his drug habit or face a prison term.
Pete was granted extra time earlier this month for an aftercare drugs rehabilitation plan ahead of Friday’s appearance at West London Magistrates’ Court, his lawyer Sean Curran said.
District Judge Davinder Lachhar accepted the application for adjournment on hearing that Doherty had tested negative for drugs throughout his six-week residential drugs treatment and wanted to "give himself a chance" to recover, Mr Curran added.
Judge Lachhar has said Doherty could face jail, subject to pre-sentence reports.
It was Judge Lachhar who, after Doherty kept a court waiting for more than two hours, threatened to issue a warrant for his arrest in July.
But the troubled star eventually arrived moments later, looking slightly dishevelled in his trademark trilby hat and open-necked black shirt, before pleading guilty to the six charges.
Judge frees Pete of drug treatment order - Oct 24 2007
Pete Doherty emerged from court in triumph after a judge removed the remaining term of a drug treatment order.
The Babyshambles frontman appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court in east London today (Wednesday) for a review of the order.
District Judge Jane McIvor told the singer she was going to revoke six months of the order after being convinced by experts.
She told him: "I wish you well."
The judge told the court Doherty had already been supervised over 18 months and that she was going to revoke the last six months of supervision.
Telling him that it wasn’t the end, but the beginning she added: "You must be pleased."
Judge McIvor said experts had convinced her that the plan already in place for Doherty to be clean was going to be followed.
She said: "There is no need for statutory supervision or state funding."
Outside court Doherty told reporters and photographers he was going to have to stay drug free.
He said: "I have just had enough really."
Reiterating the judge’s quotes, he said: "It’s just the beginning, you know what I mean. My life has changed."
Adding that there was always the pub, Doherty said he was taking one day at a time.
He said he was undergoing rehabilitation and wanted to get back on the road with his band.
Pete’s impromptu gig - Oct 9 2007
Pete Doherty apparently celebrated coming out of rehab with an impromptu gig at a local pub.
The rocker - whose band hit the No 5 slot in the charts with Shotter’s Nation this week - delighted crowds at The Sun Inn in Marlborough in Wiltshire, reports the Sun.
The 28-year-old has been staying at the Clouds clinic for a month and is now staying in a nearby cottage to stay in line with bail conditions of avoiding London - and his crowd of pals.
At the weekend, he decided to make himself at home and head to the local for a few pints.
An onlooker told the paper: "It was a normal Saturday night until Pete rocked up.
"As soon as word got out, the place was packed and people were begging him to sing.
"He was asking for pints of Guinness as he paused between the tracks and was kissing all the girls who asked for one.
"It was a really great atmosphere."

A long and drawn out battle with drugs, an especially fiery relationship with Croydon’s favourite daughter and any number of bust ups and arrests has made the singer/songwriter one of Britain’s most recognisable faces (all be it a screwed up, sweaty zombie face).
Born on March 12 1979 in Hexham, Northumberland and living at various times in Liverpool, Shepherd’s Bush, Coventry, Dorset, Cyprus and Russia, Pete Doherty first came to the public’s attention as one half of the singing songwriting duo who fronted Britain’s must see band, The Libertines, who kick started the country’s new garage rock scene in 2002/03.
Debauched backstage shenanigans and frantic but brilliant shows saw The Libertines hit the headlines time and time again and their debut album, Up The Bracket, shot up the charts. However, the band’s success was to be short lived and numerous problems, between Pete and the rest of the band (specifically with best friend Carl Barat - the pair met when they became flatmates in Stoke Newington) saw them part ways but not before Pete hit the headlines for drink and drug problems which caused him to steal from his bandmates to feed his habit.
It was around this time that Lisa Moorish gave birth to Doherty’s child, Astile but, rather than settling down Pete carried on taking heroin, selling his ’My Drug Hell’ stories to any and every tabloid to pay for his out of control habit before being put in to several rehab clinics (including a Thai monastery), none of which have changed his ways.
Nonetheless he has managed to forge a career on his own, first working with Wolfman on For Lovers then forming Babyshambles, initially as a way to make money for.you guessed it! Now trying to get clean with the aid of Naltroxene after an arrest for assault, which resulted in some jail time as well as a curfew and constant supervision Pete is reportedly set to marry supermodel Kate Moss.
