It's Christmas with the Spice Girls - oct 26 2007
Tesco is Spicing up Christmas with a festive ad.

The Spice Girls have signed up as the new faces of the supermarket chain.

And their new advert gives "a glimpse into what Christmas with the Spice Girls might be like".

The famous fivesome are seen having a giggle at home by a table laden with champagne and canapes.

All are wrapped up cosily against the winter weather - except for Victoria Beckham, who is glammed up in her trademark tight dress and bare legs.

Unfortunately for Tesco, Posh Spice is on the record as saying her favourite shop is M&S.

Just before the Beckhams' move to LA, she said: "You can get most things out there but what I will miss is M&S. I missed it when I first moved to Madrid and it is the first shop I go to when I'm back."

A Tesco spokesman said: "We are thrilled to be working with the Spice Girls for our Christmas campaign. We feel that the new commercials really emphasise Tesco's commitment to offer something different and exciting this Christmas."

A source is quoted as saying: "It can’t fail to work. The girls have something so individual about them.

"The company believes all five of the Spice Girls can each bring something unique to the furniture industry.

"They are sure the girls will be hugely successful selling their own designs."

The insider added: "As well as tasteful animal prints, floral wallpaper and patterned lampshades, the plan is to extend the modern, uber-cool range to include luxurious mirrors in every colour of the rainbow.

"There are several meetings set to go ahead which will be arranged around the group’s hectic tour schedule."

She admitted she had been worried whether the girls would get on again.

"I was nervous about the chemistry, whether we still had that magic - but when we did the launch in the summer it was there. I just felt the buzz and that’s when I really started to get excited.

"We feel we want to have the same energy and magic that we had but move it on and evolve - bigger, better Spice Girls," she added.
