A source is quoted in The People newspaper as saying: "Madonna and Guy have both been so busy lately they decided to do something really special for their anniversary. "Madge has been all over the world promoting her new single and album and has had a really hectic time." The insider added: "She’s also been outspoken about her marriage in the last few months. "Skibo Castle is the perfect place for the couple to celebrate because it’s where their married life began. And it’s the perfect place for romance."

Guy Ritchie thinks Madonna’s new album is "s**t" - Nov 21, 2020

Madonna has confessed her husband Guy Ritchie thinks her new album is "s**t". The pop diva admitted director Guy walked out of the room when she first played him ’Confessions on a Dancefloor’, which is currently No 1 in the UK album chart. She is quoted in The Sun newspaper as saying: "Guy thought it was s**t. He prefers Irish folk music."

Meanwhile, a Belgian songwriter has won a plagiarism case over the 47-year-old singer’s 1998 hit single ’Frozen’. Salvatore Acquaviva claimed the track copied one of his songs - and it was upheld by a Belgian court, with a judge agreeing Madonna’s single used part of ’Ma Vie Fout L’camp’. The little-known composer told Belgium’s RTL TV in May: "I was in the bath. I was listening to the radio, and thought that’s strange, I know that melody. I said it’s not possible." The judge has now reportedly ordered EMI, Sony and Warner Music to withdraw the song - which Madonna took to No 1 - from sale in the country. Record companies have also been told to stop radio and TV stations from playing ’Frozen’. Madonna’s UK spokeswoman said she was unable to give a reaction, according to Britain’s BBC website.

Madonna married Guy Ritchie to make her "look good" - Nov 08, 2020

Madonna has admitted she only married husband Guy Ritchie to make her "look good". The pop superstar wed the English film director in December 2000 and she now says she tied the knot with him for all the wrong reasons. She said: "I went into the marriage saying, ’He’s fantastically talented, very witty, very smart. He’s going to make me laugh and look good because he’s so successful and, of course, he’s gorgeous, sexy and handsome."

However, the mum-of-two says she now realises what marriage is about and what makes one strong. She added to the Tatler magazine: "But none of these things mean anything after you’ve been sharing a life together for a few years and you’re dealing with raising children and scheduling and finances. "You have to go back to what is the point of marriage. You go to school to learn how to learn and I think marriage is about learning to learn as well. Diane Sawyer once said to me that a good marriage is a contest of generosity - I thought that was a good thing to say."

Biography

Guy Ritchie shot to fame after his film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels catapulted its way into cinemas in 1998. Millions of people flocked to see his depiction of the dodgy dealings of London gangsters, and it went on to become a multi-award winner, grossing £11.7m at the UK box office.

His second film, Snatch, also did well, taking £3m in its first weekend earlier this year, a record opening for an 18-rated film. The diamond-heist drama has so far grossed £12.3m in the UK and is soon to be released in the US. But, of course, it is not just Ritchie’s film successes that command the hundreds of column inches written about him each week. The 32-year-old’s marriage with pop icon Madonna and the birth of their son Rocco has caught the imagination of the public.

He began his career as a film runner in the UK in 1993, quickly progressing to directing music promos for bands and commercials by 1995. The money he made from this enabled him to direct his first film - Hard Case, a 20-minute short and after meeting his producing partner Matthew Vaughn, the two formed SKA Films. They went on to make Lock Stock, and two years later Snatch was released.

Ritchie also spotted the acting potential in footballer Vinnie Jones, who terrified opponents on the field with his crunching tackles.

He is now working on a 17th Century civil war action drama, which is slated for production in 2001.

He spent much of his childhood at Loton Park, in Shropshire, the 17th century home of his baronet stepfather.

Ritchie was born in Hatfield in Hertfordshire in 1968. His parents divorced when he was five, and he went to live with his mother, Amber, who was a model, and her new husband, Sir Michael Leighton, until she divorced again when he was 12.

It is reported that his severe dyslexia meant he attended a total of 10 schools, and left with one GCE in film studies. He got a job at Island Records, before pursuing his interest in film-making.
