Guy Ritchie quit the Kabbalah - Sept 05
Guy Ritchie has allegedly quit the Kabbalah - leaving wife Madonna furious. The ’Snatch’ director reportedly told the sexy singer he is turning his back on the mystical Jewish faith because he has wasted too much time following it. A source is quoted by the Daily star newspaper as saying: "Madonna is absolutely fuming with Guy. Kabbalah is her life and she feels like Guy has rejected her as well as the cult. It took her years to convince him to join the sect. and she was thrilled by his growing enthusiasm for it over the past years."

Guy fears his involvement in the sect even ruined his new gangster film ’Revolver’, which has been panned by critics. The star allegedly believes he should have spend more time on set and less time taking part in the cult’s rituals. It is claimed he also regrets following Kabbalah devotee Madonna’s advice and including references to the religion in his movie. The insider revealed: "The horrific reception ’Revolver’ has received has undone all of Madonna’s good work. Critics hate the Kabbalah plugs. He wants to distance himself from it. But Madonna is such a staunch supporter; it will make their marriage very difficult."

Guy wants more kids with Madonna - Sept 05
Guy Ritchie is desperate to have more kids with Madonna. The film director, who is father to five-year-old Rocco and stepfather to eight-year-old Lourdes, has confessed he wants to extend his family with the pop queen. He revealed: "I’d like to think that we would have more children. I love it. I love fatherhood. I could bang on about kids for ever." Guy has also admitted he and Madonna argue like every other couple. He confided: "Normal man and wife stuff. Relationships are about eating humble pie. We are not unique. We’re quite volatile as individuals, but that doesn’t work exponentially when we are together."

However, despite their occasional tiffs, the ’Snatch’ director says he loves Madonna because she gets on with things rather than just talking about it. He explained in an interview with the Times magazine: "She’s a manifester. She has an idea and can then manifest the idea. Not everyone’s like that. The world is divided between those that waffle and those that do."

Kabbalah film in pipeline - April 04
Guy Ritchie is rumoured to be making a film based around celeb fad religion Kabbalah.

The Lock Stock director converted to the religion along with his ultra famous missus and now, as if the Jewish based faith needed any more publicity, he apparently plans to make a film about it. Based on Madonna’s mentor’s book ’The Power Of Kabbalah’. A bit of a change from Guys usual mobster movies.

No TV in the Ritchie household - 10/01/03
Guy Ritchie has admitted he and wife Madonna have a self-imposed ban on watching TV.

He has told Bella magazine that he and Madonna have not read or watched television for over 3 years.

The film director, who is currently making a new reality series called Swag, says the censorship began by reading untruthful stories in the tabloids.

He says that reading "bad" and inaccurate articles made them question themselves.

Biography

Guy Ritchie shot to fame after his film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels catapulted its way into cinemas in 1998. Millions of people flocked to see his depiction of the dodgy dealings of London gangsters, and it went on to become a multi-award winner, grossing £11.7m at the UK box office.

His second film, Snatch, also did well, taking £3m in its first weekend earlier this year, a record opening for an 18-rated film. The diamond-heist drama has so far grossed £12.3m in the UK and is soon to be released in the US. But, of course, it is not just Ritchie’s film successes that command the hundreds of column inches written about him each week. The 32-year-old’s marriage with pop icon Madonna and the birth of their son Rocco has caught the imagination of the public.

He began his career as a film runner in the UK in 1993, quickly progressing to directing music promos for bands and commercials by 1995. The money he made from this enabled him to direct his first film - Hard Case, a 20-minute short and after meeting his producing partner Matthew Vaughn, the two formed SKA Films. They went on to make Lock Stock, and two years later Snatch was released.

Ritchie also spotted the acting potential in footballer Vinnie Jones, who terrified opponents on the field with his crunching tackles.

He is now working on a 17th Century civil war action drama, which is slated for production in 2001.

He spent much of his childhood at Loton Park, in Shropshire, the 17th century home of his baronet stepfather.

Ritchie was born in Hatfield in Hertfordshire in 1968. His parents divorced when he was five, and he went to live with his mother, Amber, who was a model, and her new husband, Sir Michael Leighton, until she divorced again when he was 12.

It is reported that his severe dyslexia meant he attended a total of 10 schools, and left with one GCE in film studies. He got a job at Island Records, before pursuing his interest in film-making.
