Joseph Fiennes and Naomi Campbell are getting friendly in Notting Hill. The supermodel is so infatuated with the Shakespere In Love star she’s now staying at his trendy Notting Hill flat whenever she’s in the capital. After a chummy evening at this year’s Baftas the friendship exploded into passion. However only last week on C4 show The Priory, Naomi was telling viewers how great her relationship was with Flavio Briatore, the 44 year old millionaire founder of the Benetton Formula One racing team.
Biography
Joseph Alberic Fiennes was born one of twins (his brother Jacob is a conservationist) on May 27 1970 in Salisbury to novelist Jennifer Lash and photographer Mark Fiennes.
With a family which includes brother Ralph Fiennes, a fellow actor, sisters Sophie and Martha Fiennes, both filmmakers, Magnus Fiennes, a composer and cousin Sir Ranulph Fiennes, celebrated explorer, not to mention eighth cousin Prince Charles, he was almost destined to succeed.
Joseph began his acting career at the Young Vic Youth Theatre before moving on to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Early performances saw him take to the stage opposite Helen Mirren and before long he was picked up by the Royal Shakespeare Company for two seasons.
He first appeared on our screens in Stealing Beauty, which was followed up two years later with his breakthrough role as William Shakespeare in the Oscar winning Shakespeare in Love. In the same year he appeared as the same character in another Oscar winning film, Elizabeth. Rather than continue an already succesful movie career though Joseph turned down a studio deal and returned to the theatre.
However this was not the last we would see of him on the big screen. He filmed the Darwin Awards with Winona Ryder and Running with Scissors with co star of old Gwyneth Paltrow.
In addition to his acting work, Joseph is also a celebrated philanthropist and works closely with charities working to eliminate poverty and cure breast cancer. He famously travelled to Angola in support of work there by Christian Aid.
