I was wolf-whistled by Diana, says Le Bon - June 25 2007
Duran Duran star Simon Le Bon has told how he was wolf-whistled by Princess Diana.
The singer, who's performing at this weekend's Concert for Diana, told the Radio Times: "She and I used to go to the same fitness club - Chelsea Harbour in London.
"One day I was on the running machine. I jumped off because one of my shoelaces had come undone, and she wolf-whistled at me across the room, and yelled, like a brickie, 'Nice legs! I'd recognise that bum anywhere!'
"I was quite taken aback, actually, and quietly got back on the machine with a red face."
The star was speaking before Duran Duran's performance at the concert marking the tenth anniversary of Diana's death.
Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, who's putting together a musical medley for the concert, said: "Whenever I met Princess Diana - and I did meet her on several occasions - all those usual words jumped into my head - grace, poise, elegance and charm.
"But there was something else... something behind her eyes. Something that was difficult to evaluate.
"As a composer of musical theatre and drama, I like to think I'm pretty good at understanding people. But I never really felt that with her. The eyes said something I didn't understand."
Status Quo's Rick Parfitt said he had dinner with the Princess several times after meeting her at Live Aid in 1985.
He said: "There was no stiff upper lip, no airs and graces. It was like she was just the girl next door."

Simon takes wife’s role - 04/02/03
Wandsworth resident Simon Le Bon took to the catwalk yesterday - but he wasn’t taking over model wife Yasmin’s day job - he was modelling clothes for charity.
The charity event was held in Ireland and organised by Ali Hewson - wife of U2 star Bono. It was in aid of the Chernobyl Children’s Project, ISPCC and The Christina Noble Foundation.
Simon wasn’t the only star to strut his stuff in Prada - joining him were ex-Boyzone Keith Duffy, with Naomi Campbell and Jerry Hall to show him how its done - that is if Yasmin didn’t give him a few pointers first.
