Description
Explore the breathtaking and curious world of Science Photo Library in Counterpoint, part of the reflect exhibition series at the Royal Albert Hall. For many centuries, art and science were as one, inseparable natural extensions of the harmony of the cosmic spheres. However, the arrival of the Enlightenment in the 18th Century saw a split develop between artistic endeavour on one hand, and pure reason on the other. In the popular mind this meant that science and art now took different paths and ran to different rhythms, even though still connected by the thread of creativity. Today, in the 21st century, the photographer and the scientist are bringing the moving lines of science and art toward a new harmonic resolution.
