Local Events: Summer 2002 Events in Kensington Gardens

Kensington Gardens is the setting for Kensington Palace where Queen Victoria spent much of her childhood and where Diana, Princess of Wales lived.

The park offers tree-lined avenues, extensive informal flowerbeds, the Peter Pan statue and the Elfin Oak as well as The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground and a seven mile memorial walk (which also goes through Hyde, Green and St James's Parks).

The Serpentine Gallery, independently run, specialises in showing work by contemporary British and international artists.
