For the second year running Londoners can get their
skates on in one of the capital's most exquisite settings. The ice
rink at Somerset House, which was a massive hit with tourists and
locals alike last year, returns to the 18th century building's magnificant
courtyard.
If you don't know where it is, Somerset house is
directly across the river from the South Bank, a stone's throw from
the city centre, a perfect stopping point on a Christmas shopping
trip.
For six weeks between December 5 and January 20
up to 2,000 skaters will be able to take to the ice daily. This
year visitors are also treated to a 40ft Christmas tree which has
been transported from Sweden. The tree was a gift from the City
of Gothenberg, the birthplace of Sir William Chambers, the architect
of Somerset House.
