Club News: Soho Club 'The Seen' has licence revoked in drug
bust - 25/09/01 |
|
Westminster Council has approved an application
from the Met police Clubs & Vice unit to revoke the licence of a
Soho nightclub. The application was approved on the back of evidence
supplied which proved that Class A drugs were openly sold on the
premises of The Seen nightclub in Dean Street, W1.
Chief Inspector Chris Bradford, Clubs and Vice Unit,
said: "We felt it was necessary to take this course as yet a further
measure to try and eradicate this serious and open problem of Class
A drug dealing from the premises. A full investigation has been
carried out and we have previously made a number of arrests at the
nightclub."
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Trotter, head
of policing in Westminster, said: " I fully support this application
to Westminster City Council. This goes to highlight the firm stance
that we take in the Borough not just in tackling the problem of
drug dealing but all illegal, dangerous and anti-social behaviour.
"The West End is a magnet for those seeking entertainment and is
a tourist attraction in its own right, as well as having a large
residential population. I want to ensure that my officers, in conjunction
with our partners at Westminster City Council, do everything in
our power to make the area as safe as it can be."
