Welcome to a blast from the nineties as The Smashing Pumpkins announce a one-off date for London at the Shepherds Bush Empire.

The London gig accompanies an exclusive set of European gigs in anticipation of their new album ‘Zeitgeist’, their sixth album and host to the first new material since 2000.

Produced by Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin with Roy Thomas Baker and Terry Date, the album is the culmination of two years work and will be preceded by the single ‘Tarantula’ on July 2nd.

The Smashing Pumpkins – completed by Jeff Schroeder (guitar), Ginger Reyes (bass) and Lisa Harriton (keyboards) - are currently embarking on an international festival tour throughout the summer, during which they will headline the Leeds and Reading festivals on August 24 and 26 respectively.

Formed in Chicago in 1988, the Pumpkins released ‘Gish’, their influential (and platinum) debut in 1991, which was followed by more platinum and multi-platinum albums including ‘Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness’ and ‘Siamese Dream’.  Their hits include ‘Disarm,’ ‘Today,’ ‘Cherub Rock,’ ‘1979,’ ‘Tonight, Tonight’ and ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’ - songs that defined the alternative music era of their time and continue to resonate, influencing a whole new generation.

Alongside the album release expect a free, digital-only release ‘Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music’, on July 9 on Martha’s Music/Resprise.
