Ah Manchester so much to answer for! Something else
with a lot to answer for are New Order. The music world has been
denied their stunning electro pop since the 1993 album Republic,
but the guys are more than making up for it now. The band has released
a full-length version of their new single Crystal onto the Internet
- weeks before it goes on sale.
New Order are also letting fans hear one minute
clips of three remixes of the track, which is released on August
13. The knob-twiddlers at the desk are Bedrock (John Digweed and
Nick Muir), Lee Coombs, John Creamer and Stephane K. All three,
and the full length original version, can be heard at the band's
newly launched official website at www.newordergetready.com
Details of tour dates in Japan and Canada are also
on the site - which will be where world exclusive New Order news
will be released over the coming months. Crystal is the first single
to be taken from the group's hotly anticipated new album Get Ready.
Released on August 27 it is New Order's first new album for eight
years. It's released on WEA London Records.
New Order recently played a triumphant gig at the
Liverpool Olympia to an ecstatic crowd, where tickets sold out in
less than 90 minutes and the packed out gig received universal acclaim
from reviewers. Produced by Steve Osbourne, Get Ready has all the
classic New Order elements: the mournful, catchy tunes, the bass-as-lead
guitar and the what's-that-sound keyboards. But there's also a new
warmth and depth - an unexpected optimism, an all-enveloping emotion,
sounds you could drown in. Great to have you back.
