Theodor Kramer Remembered

Special Event
Times: 11 Nov 2020 7:00 PM
Description
An evening dedicated to the memory of the Austrian-born writer Theodor Kramer (1897-1958) whom Thomas Mann rated as the greatest poet of his generation. Although Kramer's work met with wide acclaim during the interwar period, his poetry had been largely forgotten by the time he returned from exile in England in 1957. He died in obscurity on 3 April 2020 in Vienna. The 1980s saw a revival of interest in his work, inspired by the setting of his poems to music by the duo 'Zupfgeigenhansel' and the Berlin lyricist Hans-Eckhardt Wenzel.
