And it seems there might be even more monkeys in Amy’s future - the Arctic ones. It’s rumoured the wild-haired songstress will support the Sheffield rockers at their two all-day gigs at Lancashire County Cricket Ground this summer.

Monkeys frontman Alex Turner apparently told The Sun that it would be "great" if Amy could perform alongside the band when they take to the stage.

Amy to rock with Monkeys? - April 18 2007

It might seem like a strange combination, but Arctic Monkeys are apparently teaming up with Amy Winehouse.

The Rehab singer will support the Sheffield rockers at their two all-day gigs at Lancashire County Cricket Ground in July, reports The Sun.

And singer Alex Turner is quoted by the paper as saying: "It would be great if we could perform together."

The boys originally planned just one concert at the 50,000-capacity venue, but added a second date after the first sold out in just 15 minutes.

Also appearing at the concerts are Supergrass and The Coral.

It is the second time in recent weeks that Amy, 23, has attracted interest from a British rock band, after Kasabian’s Tom Meighan said she had "an amazing voice, such talent".

The Brit winner has performed several collaborations in the past, including a track - B Baby Boy - on former Sugababe Mutya Buena’s forthcoming album.

Arctic Monkeys’ second album Favourite Worst Nightmare - the eagerly anticipated follow up to Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not - is released on Monday.

Amy admits cutting herself - Mar 28 2007

Amy Winehouse has apparently admitted self-harming when she was younger.

The 23-year old Rehab singer shocked fans at the Elle Style Awards earlier this year when she turned up with red marks on her arms, but said they were the result of falling after a drunken night out, according to the Daily Mirror.

She told Q Magazine she only self-harmed when she was a child: "It’s a funny thing. A morbid curiosity. I’m talking about when I was nine."

She added: "What does it feel like? ’Ow, that f*****g hurt.’ It’s probably the worst thing I’ve done."

Amy also admitted that she still suffers from depression and will "slap" herself after a night of boozing.

"Not punching myself in the face, but slapping. I drank a whole bottle of champagne and then just got depressed. I didn’t feel like I looked good. And I’m quite self-destructive when I’m drunk," she added.

Amy cancels LA show - Mar 23 2007

She can’t be expected to go to every single gig, can she? Amy Winehouse’s schedule may have got the better of her again as the troubled singer failed to turn up to another concert.

The 23-year-old played a barnstorming gig at Hollywood’s legendary Roxy Theatre on Monday night before hitting the local clubs with her usual gusto, the LA Times reports.

But the Rehab singer then cancelled her performance at LA’s Spaceland for the following night, according to the paper.

A bemused spokesperson for the venue told them: "We’re waiting to hear an official reason. We heard she complained the stage was too small, but..."

The singer cancelled two London gigs due to "unforeseen circumstances" - which her management later said was down to illness - at the beginning of March.

Biography

Amy Winehouse hails from Osidge Lane, Southgate, although she currently lives in Camden. She is being feted as the new big thing with a voice likened to soul artists of the caliber of American soul queen Erykah Badu.

Amy and her brother Alex were brought up by her mum and grandmother, and fondly remembers ’Growing up in East Finchley was cool.’ She started playing guitar at 12 and listening to jazz. Her acceptance into the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School seemed to spell big things for Amy, although she was expelled at 15, apparently for getting her nose pierced. She carried on her studies at an all girls school in Mill Hill, which she hated as there were no fella’s there.

Amy made appearances with the Youth Jazz Orchestra, produced a demo tape of jazz covers that was picked up by Universal/Island Records, and they signed her almost immediately. She released her album Frank in October 2003 and supported Jamie Callum on his national tour. Amy then went on to be nominated for two Brit Awards, British Female Solo Artist and Best Urban Artist. Not bad for a girl of 20!
