They’re unlikely ever to become best friends, but Angelina Jolie has said she would like to sit down face-to-face with Jennifer Aniston.

But the meeting would only come about if the Friends actress would agree.

Ang added that she has met Jen briefly but it was not a "proper meeting".

"We’ve, like, passed each other and said ’Hi’ briefly, shook hands," she said.

"But not a real sit-down-and-talk kind of meeting. That would be her decision, and I would welcome it."

And the 31-year-old added that when she met Brad, she didn’t think he was looking for another relationship.

"It was clear he was with his best friend, someone he loves and respects," the actress said.

She added: "Brad was a huge surprise to me... I think we were the last two people who were looking for a relationship.

"I certainly wasn’t. I was quite content to be a single mom."

Angelina Jolie has opened up about falling for Brad Pitt when he was still married to Jennifer Aniston.

But the actress said she and the heartthrob, who met as they filmed Mr & Mrs Smith, remained nothing more than friends until after he and Jen announced they were divorcing in early 2005.

Angie said she and Brad got on so well as they worked on the movie that she could not wait to get to the set each day.

The star, who this year had a baby with the 42-year-old actor and shares two adopted children with him, said of her connection with the actor: "Because of the film, we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened.

"Whether it was shooting a scene or arguing about a scene or gun practice or dance class or doing stunts - anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair.

"And it took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realise that it might mean something more than we’d earlier allowed ourselves to believe."

Brad and Ange step out in NY - Dec 12 2006
After fitting in a spot of Christmas shopping during their weekend in New York, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie both turned out last night for the world premiere of Ange’s latest film, The Good Shepherd.

Despite having a rare night off from parenting duties, the couple arrived around ten minutes apart, with a beaming Brad posing only briefly for photographs before disappearing inside to leave Ange to take centre stage.

Wearing a glittering, custom-designed Reem Acra gown in midnight blue, Angelina spoke briefly with reporters about filming scenes for The Good Shepherd in the Dominican Republic, plus her latest project in India, saying: "They’re amazing parts of the world - people should travel there more and learn about them."

The night marked the couple’s first premiere since their infamous are-they-or-aren’t-they appearances on the red carpet for Mr And Mrs Smith in 2005.

Directed by Robert De Niro, The Good Shepherd follows the turbulent career of a CIA agent, played by Matt Damon, during the Cold War.
