Angelina Jolie
- Profession: Actress
- Place/Date of Birth: Los Angeles, California, United States, 04 June 2020
- Assiociated with: Brad Pitt
According to Samuel Nuuyoma, governor of the Namibian region of Erongo, mother and baby are "just fine and enjoying their lives." The origin of the girl’s unusual name has been the source of much speculation over the weekend. One suggestion is that the Hollywood couple named their first born after where they conceived. Shiloh is a place in California where the pair rendezvoused nine months ago while Brad was on a photo shoot. Shiloh also means "the peaceful one" in Hebrew - a reference to the Messiah - while Nouvel is the French word for "new" - when added together the name can be translated as ’New Messiah’.
The birth of the ’Tomb Raider’ actress’ first biological child - she already has two adopted children - is thought to be helping heal the rift between her and her estranged father, actor Jon Voight. His spokesman told America’s New York Times newspaper that Voight is excited and "can’t wait to hold the baby in his arms and be a grandpa".
It’s a girl - May 30, 2020
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have named their new baby daughter Shiloh Nouvel. The name chosen by the couple, who welcomed their new arrival into the world on Saturday (27.05.06) in Namibia, Southern Africa, is derived from Hebrew and French origins. Shiloh is the Hebrew word for "Mesiah" or "Peaceful One", while Nouvel is the French term for "new". It is believed Angelina chose the name Nouvel in honour of her mother, Marcheline, who is from France.
The ’Tomb Raider’ actress - who has been staying with Brad at the plush Burning Shore Beach Lodge for the past several weeks while waiting to give birth - delivered the tot at the Welwitschia private hospital, located near Swakopmund, and mother and baby are said to be doing well.
Brad and Angelina - who already have two adopted children Maddox, four, and 16-month-old Zahara - announced the happy news in a joint statement and are believed to be overjoyed with the latest addition to their family. Before the birth rumours were rife the child was to be named by a Namibian chief. Samuel Nuuyoma, a Namibian regional governor, was believed to have agreed to announce the birth and pick a name, but he had no part in the process. As yet, no pictures of the tot have been released.
Baby’s birth to be declared a national holiday - May 25, 2020
Namibia wants the day Angelina Jolie gives birth to be declared a national holiday. An informal radio survey on Tuesday (22.05.06) asked listeners if the ’Brangelina’ baby should be given the honour - usually only reserved for royalty and national heroes. Over half of listeners to Radio Wave who voted were in favour of the public holiday. The DJ who was responsible for the survey said that voting was still going on.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood couple have asked an African chief to name their unborn baby. Brad and Angelina approached governor Samuel Nuuyoma at a dinner several weeks ago to pick a name. He said: "When she goes to the hospital, as the father of the region, I will be informed and I will go there. "I will announce the good news and I will be naming the baby." Nuuyoma said the couple - who have two adopted children, four-year-old Maddox and baby Zahara - are "good people, peace-minded and ready to help".

Her family moved to LA when Angelina was eleven and she soon began working on her acting career, enrolling in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute where ahe appeared in several productions. Despite her abilities Angelina was teased during her time at Beverley Hills High School - far from being beautiful and popular she was skinny, with glasses and braces and wore second hand clothes. At 14 she dropped out of theatre classes, harbouring dreams of becoming a funeral director, and began cutting herself. Angelina began a rebellious period of her life, moving out of home and in with her boyfriend.
At around the same time she was taken on by Finesse Model Management and took jobs in the US and Europe, she also appeared in several music videos for the likes of Meat Loaf and Lenny Kravitz. Then, at 16, she returned to acting and rekindled her relationship with her father. She appeared in several of her brother’s student films before, in 1993 she was offered a role in sci-fi flick Cyborg 2. Several equally poor productions followed before Angelina landed a role in Hackers, which was a cult hit and threw the actress in the direction of Jonny Lee Miller, whom she would soon marry.
Little known films such as Foxfire and Mojave Moon followed but it was the Golden Globe winning George Wallace that got Angelina noticed and Pushing Tin, which co-starred Billy Bob Thornton and The Bone Collector helped her on her way to global stardom. However it was her part as messed up teenager Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted which won her her place on the Hollywood walk of fame. The role won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress as well as several other accolades.
Action movies Gone In 60 Seconds and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider followed and made sure Angelina was admired the world over by men and women alike. Meanwhile her personal life became just as fascinating than her on screen performances. Having divorced Jonny Lee Miller she married Pushing Tin costar Billy Bob Thornton, famously they wore vials of blood around their neck, however in 2003 they also divorced despite having adopted a Cambodian orphan, Maddox. At the same time she admitted she had had a relationship with a female costar on the set of Foxfire. Meanwhile she continued with her now much publicised humanitarian work, as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN and her film career, appearing in Alexander and Taking Lies among others.
In 2005 Angelina took a leading role in Mr & Mrs Smith, opposite Brad Pitt. Although the movie itself was widely panned the burgeoning relationship between Angelina and Brad, who was at the time in the process of splitting from Jennifer Aniston, made sure it was a hit. The relationship was also a success, in January 2006 Angelina announced that she was pregnant, just months after adopting second child, Ethiopian Zahara, she gave birth to Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.
Angelina has confirmed that she is working on a screen adaptation of Beowulf, A Mighty Heart and Atlas Shrugged.
