She had hoped that the shoot with OK! Magazine would endear her to the public once again, but sadly, the project has backfired on Britney.
The troubled star ruined the fashion shoot, which was done at her request, and in a shocking move, the celeb-friendly glossy has dished the dirt on the whole story.
Brit wiped her greasy hands on a 274 dollar pink silk designer gown during lunch, let her new puppy poop on a 6,700 dollar Zac Posen dress, and left before it was over, still wearing 14,526 dollars worth of OK’s borrowed designer clothing, the magazine told the New York Daily News.
"Brit dismissively refused to take it [the dress] off, and after consuming her meal, stood up and rubbed grease from her fingers into the front and back of the dress. It was ruined!" said Sarah Ivens, the magazine’s editor-in-chief.
"We’re really hoping that it will provide a wake-up call for her and for the people around her."
If that wasn’t enough, the singer also took frequent loo breaks with the door open and brought her assistant in with her. Classy...
The feature, which comes out in the US on Friday, could have ramifications on Britney’s home life, as it has reportedly prompted Kevin Federline to regroup with his lawyers in a bid to gain custody of his two sons with the singer.
Britney’s ’heartbreaking’ interview - July 25 2007
Britney Spears has spilled her story to OK! magazine.
In a statement to celebrity news Web site TMZ, OK! Editor-in-Chief Sarah Ivens said the magazine had "spent a heartbreaking day with Britney Spears and witnessed first-hand an emotional cry for help that will leave you shocked and sad."
TMZ said earlier it had "learned that Britney’s self-arranged photo shoot and interview with OK! Magazine was a complete disaster" and that her behaviour during the interview was "nothing less than a meltdown."
Earlier this month, the 25-year-old pop princess apologised for attacking a photographer’s car with an umbrella in February, saying at the time she was preparing to try out for a movie part and got carried away.
The incident took place during the same period in which Spears shaved her head, got new tattoos and was seen partying hard in Los Angeles clubs.
Not long after, the pop star, more recently derided as a pop tart for her highly public forays into midnight carousing, checked into a month-long stay in rehab.
Spears filed for divorce from aspiring rapper Kevin Federline in November, just two months after giving birth to the couple’s second child, Jayden James.
Their older son, Sean Preston, was born in September 2005.
Britney set to tell all - July 24 2007
Britney Spears looks set to reveal all about her time in rehab after scoring a deal with American OK! magazine.
The 25-year-old singer apparently turned down offers from major TV chat shows and is said to have phoned OK! herself to negotiate the interview deal.
A Hollywood insider says in The Daily Express: "It is practically unheard of for any star here to do their own bidding, so we have to admire Britney’s business savy."
The source added: "She might be a major star but she isn’t afraid of picking up the phone to get what she wants instead of using a publicist."
The exclusive chat is thought to cover her row with her mum Lynne, her break-up with Kevin Federline and her stint in two different care facilities in February.
Britney is set to make a comeback by releasing a new album after filming a raunchy pop video in Malibu this week.
The OK! interview is expected to be released next week.

Having given birth to son, Sean Preston, Britney seems to have put her career on hold despite the success of a greatest hits album and the launch of her fragrance, Curious. Meanwhile rumours persist about the state of her marriage to Federline with the press accusing him of taking no interest in his wife and son and of cheating on the singing star.
