The 50-year-old added that she would love to have the politician as a son-in-law. "He doesn’t seem more than 30," she said. "I think he is very attractive."
The Girls are apparently planning a new 18-track album, called In My Mind, which they plan to release at Easter. Margit wrote all the songs, which she describes as "serious dance-floor music".
Gabriela has dedicated a single, Text Me I Love You, to Lembit.
"But his favourite is the ballad Follow My Star," Margit adds. "He likes the Cheeky Song too."
Bizarre bets for 2007 - Dec 27 2006
Bookies Ladbrokes are offering a host of strange bets for 2007 - including odds of 20/1 that the Cheeky Girls will record a No 1 single in the new year.
The Harrow-based bookmakers have issued a number of specials for the upcoming year, including Prince William to get engaged, a 2/1 chance, and Prince Harry to announce plans for marriage, a 6/1 shot.
The younger royal is 2/1 to announce his engagement prior to his elder brother.
Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: "Both royal princes seem very happy... and it would come as no surprise if they were to reveal plans for the big day in 2007.
"Of the two, Wills looks the most likely, but you just never know with Harry."
Estranged couple Sir Paul McCartney and Lady Heather Mills McCartney are 250/1 to re-marry while warring Hollywood duo Britney and K-Fed are 500/1 to reconcile and have another baby.
Other showbiz bets include Kate Moss and Pete Doherty to marry, at 2/1, odds of Kylie tying the knot with Olivier Martinez are 3/1, while odds of 16/1 are offered for Oasis and Blur to perform together.
MP helped Cheeky Girl stay in UK - Dec 20 2006
The MP boyfriend of Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia helped her campaign to avoid deportation, a Liberal Democrat spokesman said today.
The 24-year-old Romanian singer is understood to have been denied further leave to remain in the UK by the Home Office.
But her new man, Liberal Democrat Lembit Opik, intervened in the case in a bid to allow the Cheeky Girls - Gabriela and her twin sister Monica - to stay.
A Lib Dem spokesman said Mr Opik had passed on details about the twins’ status to their local MP and briefly discussed the case with Immigration Minister Liam Byrne.
The spokesman said Mr Opik had acted properly in passing on information to Hastings and Rye MP Michael Foster.
The party spokesman said: "He passed on information about their immigration status to the MP who covers their constituency, Michael J Foster.
"Later he mentioned to Liam Byrne in a corridor that he had passed the case on to Michael Foster, and reiterated that he knew them in a personal capacity.
"The only other representations were made by Michael Foster as their constituency MP.
"Lembit acted with total propriety with regard to this matter. He did what any MP would do, and referred the matter to the appropriate Member of Parliament."
The harmonica-playing MP met the pop star at Channel Five’s All-Star Talent Show two months ago.
