Cowell, 47, said on his placing in the poll: "Naturally I would have expected to be very near the top as I’m obviously extremely attractive. But on a serious note - I am very interested to know where Louis [Walsh] came in this poll?

Screaming Bond fans welcome new 007 - Nov 14 2006
James Bond is back - and stars of music, television and screen were out in force for the world premiere of the latest 007 movie Casino Royale.

Actor Daniel Craig makes his debut as the secret agent in the eagerly anticipated film and thousands of fans flocked to Leicester Square in London’s West End for a glimpse of the star.

Looking dapper in an immaculate black tie and dinner jacket Craig arrived to sounds of the Bond theme tune and greeted screaming fans during a short walkabout.

The successor to Pierce Brosnan plays a tougher, grittier and altogether darker Bond in the 21st movie of the super spy franchise.

Craig, 38, was joined at the premiere by his glamorous American girlfriend Satsaki Mitchell, a 29-year-old film producer.

Commenting about the premiere, he said: "This is pretty good, I can’t explain how this feels. It’s fantastic.

"I’m just very excited. These sort of things happen once in a lifetime and I’m just trying to enjoy it."

Asked how the latest Bond compares to the others he replied: "It’s not up to me to compare them. Casino Royale is still a Bond movie and there’s a love story."

Hundreds of media from around the world were camped in Leicester Square and the new Bond spent his time signing autographs and posing for snaps from camera phones and being interviewed by broadcasters from countries such as Germany and Japan.
