Thandie Newton curtseyed and told the Queen her home was beautiful.
The actress, who was acclaimed for her role in the Hollywood hit Crash, said afterwards: "The Queen hoped we were having a good time. She said it is nice to have a party at Christmas.
"She’s so lovely I just wanted to hug her."
David Walliams chatted to the Queen about lard after being invited for raising £1 million by swimming the Channel.
He admitted afterwards he should have come in costume as a Little Britain character.
David, who was accompanied by mother Kathleen, revealed after meeting the Queen: "She said ’were you covered in lard?’ I said ’yes but it’s not as much fun as it looks’ and she laughed.
"It’s actually lanolin and it doesn’t make you warmer. It’s actually to stop the chafing but I didn’t mention that."
He added: "I said I’m on a show called Little Britain and she said ’that’s my favourite show’. No, she didn’t - but she acknowledged it.
"I should have come in costume - as Emily - a ’laydee’."
David ’splits’ from Emily - Dec 19 2006
Little Britain comic David Walliams has reportedly split from his latest girlfriend - Aussie model Emily Scott.
The high profile funnyman and the Love Island star decided to call time on their relationship after the 22-year-old model flew home to Australia.
A friend told the News Of The World: "She has been away for weeks and it’s been a death knell for their relationship. There was no big bust-up or rows - it just fizzled out."
The duo met in August after Emily’s stint on the ITV reality show and were spotted enjoying romantic dinners.
His spokesman confirmed: "David is a single man. He no longer goes out with Emily."
The 35-year-old has previously dated a string of famous women including Abi Titmuss, Patsy Kensit and Jayne Middlemiss.
He was photographed yesterday watching Matt Lucas tie the knot with long term partner Kevin McGee in London. see photos
Walliams picks up BBC sports honour- Dec 10 2006
Little Britain star David Walliams was honoured at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards after swimming the English Channel for charity.
The actor and comedian undertook the gruelling challenge in July, crossing the channel in 10-and-a-half hours to raise more than £1 million for Sport Relief.
Walliams said it was "very humbling" to be at the star-studded ceremony to receive his special award for the swim.
"The worst part was the cold, it really gets you down so I had to start thinking about Abba songs to keep me happy, and I thought about you a lot," he told a laughing Gary Lineker.
"I saw a lot of jellyfish, but luckily I didn’t get stung. I did go through some sewage," he added.
His writing and performing partner Matt Lucas was at the ceremony at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre to present the special award.
The pair joked they recognised Lineker from his crisp adverts. "Alan Shearer’s out there, he’s better," Lucas told the BBC presenter and former England and Tottenham striker.
"Are you sure you don’t want to give it to anybody who did anything better?" he asked, suggesting boules, croquet and sudoku players and his own Tetris skills, before handing over the trophy to his friend to huge applause.

Following a few unnoticed stints on television Walliams hooked up with Lucas (who was making a name for himself as George Dawes alonside Vic Reeves) to create the hilarious, but little known, Rock Profile in which they sent up famous pop stars including Elton John, Robbie Williams and the BeeGees. They also put together Sir Bernard’s Stately Homes and appeared in the Fat Les video for Vindaloo.
However it was Little Britain which would make Walliams a household name. The show which saw him dressed as a ’rubbish transvestite’ and playing a camp ministerial aide would not only put Walliams on the comedy map but on the tabloid one too. Despite being spotted with several sexy blondes, among them Abi Titmuss, Walliams’ sexuality is regularly questioned by the red tops.
