David eyes up swimming challenge? - Nov 21 2006
Not content with swimming the Channel, David Walliams is thinking about front-crawling from Russia to the United States.
The Little Britain comic is "seriously considering" swimming the Bering Strait, the water between Cape Dezhnev, Russia, and Alaska, one of the 50 American states.
The journey would require the 35-year-old to swim in Arctic temperatures, surrounded by whales and icebergs.
"I trained for a year to swim the Channel and got pretty good at it. I’m seriously considering swimming from Russia to America," he told the Daily Star.
"It’s extremely cold and apparently I would be swimming with a lot of killer whales, so it’s something I’d have to give a lot of thought to.
"But it’s definitely a possibility."
The comic raised more than £1 million for Sport Relief when he swam the Channel earlier this year.
He is now tipped to win the title of BBC Sports Personality Of The Year.
American Lynne Cox was the first person to cross the Bering Strait, according to the paper.
She made it in two hours and six minutes in 1987, but had to double her body-weight to protect herself from the icy waters.
Jessica’s ’boring’ date with Walliams - Oct 18 2006
Comedy actress Jessica Stevenson has admitted to a "boring" date with Little Britain star David Walliams - which ended with him buying her a box of smarties.
The award-winning comedienne, best-known as one of the creators of the sitcom Spaced, said: "I went on a date with him and he was quite boring. He ended up going out with my friend... he bought me some smarties."
The revelations are unlikely to bother David, who has been regularly photographed with well-known beauties.
Jessica, who most recently starred in the British romantic comedy Confetti and is set to appear in Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, revealed her romantic history when she appeared on the Russell Brand’s Got Issues show.
She added that she once stole her friend’s brother’s pillowcase because she had a crush on her friend, adding: "I was 16. I was in the house of a very good friend. A boy I had had a crush on for five years had slept over in my friend’s brother’s bedroom so I stole the pillowcase..."

Following a few unnoticed stints on television Walliams hooked up with Lucas (who was making a name for himself as George Dawes alonside Vic Reeves) to create the hilarious, but little known, Rock Profile in which they sent up famous pop stars including Elton John, Robbie Williams and the BeeGees. They also put together Sir Bernard’s Stately Homes and appeared in the Fat Les video for Vindaloo.
However it was Little Britain which would make Walliams a household name. The show which saw him dressed as a ’rubbish transvestite’ and playing a camp ministerial aide would not only put Walliams on the comedy map but on the tabloid one too. Despite being spotted with several sexy blondes, among them Abi Titmuss, Walliams’ sexuality is regularly questioned by the red tops.
