A spokesman for the Chris Evans show has said that it was never confirmed that Denise would be part of the Boys and Girls anyway, as with her many commitments it would have been impossible. But they wish her well, and the TV show looks set to air in Spring now, rather than the New Year as planned. But who will be the girl host now?

Denise spreads some fairy dust on Marks and Spencers -12/10/02
A campaign has started which is pushing Marks and Spencers back up the top of the charts, and all because Denise Van Outen is dressed in a skimpy fairy outfit.

Denise is one of a host of celebrities including Graham Norton, Cat Deeley, Joan Collins and David Beckham who say why the store is their top place for Christmas. The ad campaign even has brought comedian Ronnie Barker out of retirement, and features him sitting at the head of the Christmas table! The ads will run until Christmas Eve and will have the strapline ’magic and sparkle’.

Denise will be pictured in her fairy outfit sitting on top of a huge present asking the celebs What Makes Christmas Special? I think most fella’s answers will be obviously Denise in the fairy outfit, naturally!

Tv duo set to join forces again... 29/10/02
Denise is poised to be back on our screens starring with Chris Evans in a new game show. They worked well together during those Big Breakfast days, and Chris’s new Channel Four project ’Boys and Girls’ will see 100 men and women competing against eachother for a weekly prize of £100,000!

Denise is reportedly considering a deal that is worth a massive £500,000, so the cost of five weeks prizes then...

Lloyd Webber taken by Van Outen - 15/03/02
Denise Van Outen is set to become the star of a new musical, written specially for the former Big-Brekfast presenter by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Lloyd Webber recently met Den when she sang one of his songs at the Royal Variety Show. It’s been reported that he was so taken by her that he described her as "one of this country’s best talents."

Things are going well for the Basildon beauty as she is making her debut on Broadway. Describing the musical as being ’based on the pop world’, the thick-lipped theatre supremo added, "I haven’t been so excited in ages. Denise is a big part of it."

From Basildon to Broadway - 13/02/02
Denise Van Outen is about to reprise her role in "Chicago" as Roxie Hart on Broadway. The Islington resident’s 20-week run last year as the murderous minx in the steamy musical was a hugely successful departure from her television career. Now she has the chance to wow audiences in NYC.

After Clare Sweeney’s run as Roxie is finished, the Basildon blonde will return to the Adelphi Theatre in April to pull on those fishnets one more time and give London another taste of sexy Essex Roxie.

Denise also recent made a surprise cameo appearance in "The Play What I Wrote". Her surprise appearance on stage at the Wyndam’s Theatre drew gasps of delight from the audience. Like Minnie Driver and Jerry Hall before her, as part of her guest appearance the former Big Breakfast television presenter donned an extremely unappealing monk’s habit to play the unlikely role of Fat Father Bug-Eye.

Biography

Highbury resident Denise Van Outen was born in May 1973. Denise was the youngest, and always a show-off, sewing costumes and putting on shows for the neighbours, using the patio doors at the family home in Basildon as a proscenium arch. At seven, she started modelling for knitting patterns.

Denise attended the famous Sylvia Young’s stage school; her schoolmates included Baby Spice, Dani Behr and Martine McCutheon. She’s a press favourite and celebrity since she joined Channel 4’s early show The Big Breakfast in 1995. She is well known for her on-screen chemistry and crazy antics with co-host Johnny Vaughan and the pair realised a single for Comic Relief - a cover of the Kylie & Jason song "Especially For You" in 1998, which made the top ten.

After The Big Breakfast, Denise presented the saucy programme Something For the Weekend, and Record Of The Year. She also starred in the sitcom Babes In The Wood and had roles in the film Love Honour & Obey and Tube Tales.

She famously nicked an ashtray from a royal reception for ’young achievers’, and then returned it with an apologetic note to Buckingham Palace. As well as flashing her bra at Prince Charles’s back during a charity pop concert, she told reporters that she’d only done it to make the pop group Steps laugh at an inappropriate moment.

She dated musician and lead singer in Jamiroquai, Jay Kay for three years. They were engaged and rumoured to be getting married. However, they’ve since split somewhat acrimoniously and she still lives in her bachelor-girl flat in Islington.

Denise’s most recent works includes starring as Roxie Hart in the hit musical "Chicago".
