Gareth Gates
- Profession: Singer
- Place/Date of Birth: Bradford, England, 13 July 2020
"It’s one of the reasons I get nervous in public."
Gareth scored four No 1 hits at the height of his fame, including Unchained Melody, and still has hopes of a comeback.
He lives in west London with girlfriend Suzanne but once dated Jordan - a secret she revealed in her autobiography but he initially denied.
"I didn’t really want my mum and dad to find out, if I’m honest. Everyone’s got things in their lives that they don’t want their parents to find out."
Gates’ millions - Mar 05
Given that he hasn’t released a record in what seems like years, and hasn’t had a hit for even longer, you may be surprised to learn that the flop-idol has made it into Sunday Times’ ’rich list’ of Britain’s young music millionaires.
Gareth’s estimated £5 million fortune sees him share 14th place in the list alongside such pop music luminaries as hyperactive Daniel Bedingfield, ex-Spice Girl Mel B, ex-All Saint Shaznay Lewis and new-comer Joss Stone.

Gareth rocks - August 04
Gareth Gates is making a last ditch attempt to save his ailing career. The Pop Idol runner up is to form a band in the cast of Busted or Maroon Five in an attempt to bring his fans back with live performances and a rockier sound. The 20 year old singer has been given one last chance by his record company and will face the chop if he fails to score a hit record this time round.
Gareth’s a speech coach! - June 04
Pop Idol Gareth Gates has qualified as a speech coach.
The singer who overcame a debilitating stutter to become one of the nations biggest stars has passed a set of exams which will allow him to help others who experience the same problems as he has. Gareth is said to be chuffed to bits that he will be able to help out although it is unlikely he will be able to run courses alone as there would be too much of a risk of fake-stammerers forcing their way in to catch a glimpse of Gareth.
Stammer lessons from Gareth - April 04
Gareth Gates is going to put his stammer lessons to good use if he passes his exams to become a voice coach.
Gareth enrolled on a special course called the McGuire Programme, and it has helped him so much that he is now taking exams so he can be a voice couch for them. If all goes well he will be teaching his first session in Ireland at the end of this month.
"I never even dreamt that I’d be in a position to teach other people to speak better", said Gareth. "I just hope that my exams go well and that I can pull it off, I’ve been working really hard, so fingers crossed!"
Gareth will still find time to fit in his top pop career as well as being a voice coach, but it is always useful to have a second career, eh Gareth? How are those record sales going by the way?
Gareth to re-vamp image - March 04
Oh dear oh dear. It seems Gareth Gates falling concert sales have persuaded him to change his image already.
None of the six venues on Gareth’s tour were sell outs, and in fact one venue was under a third full, reports The Sun. A friend told the Sun: "He knows this is a terrible sign. He is worried he’s on the way out."
