George Harrison

  • Profession: Musician
  • Place/Date of Birth: Liverpool, 25 February 2020
  • Date of Death: 29 November 2020

After The Beatles disbanded George toured the U.S on a solo tour and organised a benefit for Bangladesh in 1971 that raised money for the famine stricken nation. During this time he released one of his greatest albums - All Things Must Pass, and the single ’My Sweet Lord’ - which was a number one hit, but would later come back to haunt him when he was successfully sued by sixties band The Chiffons( for being guilty of "subconscious plagiarism" of The Chiffons’ song "He’s So Fine").

George met his first wife Patti Boyd on the set of their first film A Hard Days Night - she was one of the screaming girl fans that they played to in the train! They married on January 21st 1966, but divorced in 1977, and Patti married George’s best pal Eric Clapton. George found happiness with Olivia Arrias, and they married in August 1978. Together they have a son Dhani, also born in 1978. Towards the latter part of George’s life, they lived in Friar Park in an enormous Gothic mansion, with a sign outside his gate reading ’Private - Keep Out!’ in ten different languages. The American version read ’Get Your Ass Outta Here!’

George was part of The Travelling Wilburys with Bob Dylan, and became heavily involved with film-making, owning a production company called Handmade films (which produced Monty Pythion’s Life Of Brian and Timebandits).

In 1997 George was diagnosed with cancer and had throat surgery, subsequently giving up smoking. George was attacked and stabbed in 1999 by a mentally deranged ’fan’ who broke into his house; he recovered from this attack but his cancer returned throughout 2000 and 2001. George died on November 29th 2001 at the age of 58.
