"I’m excited to go out there and have the baby on the outside," she admits (she was pregnant during her last tour).

"He’s the greatest thing in the world. There was no transition. It was just like ’where were you?’"

It sounds like little Kingston will also be following in his fashion guru mother’s footsteps, at least when it comes to his hair. He now sports a mini Mohawk.

"He finally has enough hair to do something with it," says Gwen.

"I was trying to give him some cooler looks."

Gwen pulled out of the MTV Video Music Awards - Aug 31, 2020

Gwen Stefani has pulled out of the MTV Video Music Awards - because she failed to win any top prizes last year. The ’Hollerback Girl’ singer is reportedly "boycotting" today’s prestigious event (31.08.06) after losing out on a host of awards in 2005 she was confident she would win.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Gwen had a ton of nominations and was under the impression that she would be taking home at least one award. But every award, except for that lame best-dressed award, went to Kelly Clarkson."

Gwen - who had her first son Kingston with husband Gavin Rossdale in May - is said to have felt "set up" by the producers last year, because they focused their cameras on her every time she failed to win an award. The source added: "Every time Kelly won, the camera went straight to Gwen.
She felt set up."

’Nacho Libre’ star Jack Black is hosting this year’s ceremony, which will be aired live from New York’s City Music Hall. A galaxy of music stars have been confirmed to perform, including Beyoncé Knowles, Justin Timberlake, The Killers and Jack White’s new band The Raconteurs.

Gwen’s new son - May 30, 2020

Gwen Stefani and husband Gavin Rossdale have named their new son Kingston James McGregor Rossdale. The ’No Doubt’ singer gave birth, via a Caesarean section, to the baby, who weighed a healthy 7.5 pounds, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, Los Angeles, on Friday (26.05.06). The couple are said to still be in a state of euphoria following the arrival of their first child together.

One source said the 36-year-old star - who also runs her own fashion label L.A.M.B - arrived at the hospital "wearing her signature red lipstick and looked very excited". Her husband, lead singer of rock band Bush, apparently rushed out of the operation room to deliver the good news to anxious friends and family. A statement was issued by Gwen’s spokesman, Dave Tomberlin, stating: "Both mother and child are doing well."

Gwen confirmed her pregnancy while onstage for the final stop of her solo tour in Florida in mid-December last year (05). She said: "I want you to sing so loud that the baby hears it." Gavin already has a 16-year-old daughter with former lover British rock singer Pearl Lowe.

Biography

Born on October 3 1969 in Orange County, California, Gwen Stefani grew up listening to the Ska and Punk music which was so popular in the So Cal area at the time. It was older brother Eric that really turned Gwen’s musical dreams in to reality, asking her to join a band he had started with friend John Spence, with whom she would share lead vocals. They called themselves No Doubt and invited Tony Kanal to join.

However, in 1987 Spence committed suicide and Gwen was left to take over as the band’s only vocalist, a role which she juggled with college studies and a romance with Kanal. No Doubt gained a solid following in the local area and when Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Flea recorded a demo for the band it was only a matter of time before they signed a deal.

Although their eponymous debut album and the follow up, The Beacon Street Collection, were seen as something of a failure by their record company, No Doubt’s third try, Tragic Kingdom (recorded without Eric, who had left to become an animator on The Simpsons), became a hit thanks mostly to stand out single Don’t Speak It was at this time that the rest of the band were pushed to the sidelines as the press and public focused increasingly on Gwen who, having split with Tony, was romantically linked with Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.

Two more albums followed the success of Tragic Kingdom – Return of Saturn and Rock Steady – but it was Gwen the world was interested in as she dueted with rapper Eve, featured on Moby’s Southside and married Gavin in a 2002 ceremony in London. While No Doubt took a break Gwen hooked up with writer Linda Perry and a house-full of collaborators for her debut solo album Love Angel Music Baby, which sold millions on the strength of the fantastic What You Waiting For?

While Gwen’s professional life was on the up – she launched L.A.M.B, her own clothing range and appeared in Martin Scorcese’s The Aviator as silver screen icon Jean Harlow – her personal life seemed to be taking a turn for the worse when it was revealed that her husband had a secret lovechild with tabloid favourite Pearl Lowe (she of the Sadie/Jude wife swapping revelations). However Gwen has vowed to stand by her man and is even talking of starting a family of her own…we just hope parenthood doesn’t stop her wearing those fantastic fairytale outfits in public.
