I was nasty and ugly, says Jade - Jan 22 2007
Celebrity Big Brother star Jade Goody said today that she didn’t realise how "nasty and ugly" her behaviour was until she watched footage of herself shouting at Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.
She insisted she would have argued with everyone in the house in the same manner, no matter what the colour of their skin.
Jade, who emerged on Friday to find herself at the centre of a race row, said she was worried her children would be "rejected" as a consequence of her actions.
But she denied reports she was suicidal, saying she would never harm herself because of her two sons.
Jade, who has admitted Shilpa was the victim of racist bullying, said she was sorry for the Bollywood star’s parents having to watch her suffer.
The 25-year-old told GMTV that while she was "effing and blinding", Shilpa had been nothing but dignified.
A contrite Jade said: "My actions and my words were wrong. They are not justified, I won’t justify them.
"I didn’t realise how nasty and ugly that was until I watched it.
"I am upset that I let myself get like that. I never knew I argued like that, I didn’t know I looked as ugly and aggressive as that.
"I argue like that with everybody. It wasn’t just because of the colour of her skin that I was that aggressive," she said.
"I don’t know any other way of arguing."
She continued: "I do not want my children to go through school getting rejected."
The Channel 4 board is due to meet later today to discuss the future of CBB.
Jade admits Shilpa suffered racism - Jan 21 2007
Jade Goody has admitted that fellow Celebrity Big Brother contestant Shilpa Shetty had been subjected to "bullying and racism" in the programme.
She told the News of the World her behaviour towards the Bollywood star had been the biggest mistake of her life and she said she is concerned about her family receiving abuse from the public as a result of her behaviour.
Jade, 25, said she needed psychological help and that she would only have herself to blame if it spelt the end of her career.
It came after she was evicted from the Big Brother house in a public vote after Shilpa was subjected to racial bullying.
Now a contrite Jade has given her £50,000 appearance fee to charity, together with £50,000 from the News of the World. The paper said she was being paid nothing for the interview.
Jade said of Shilpa: "She was a victim of bullying and racism, yes. I can understand why she would have said that."
She added she was now "shocked and disgusted" by her own behaviour and she had not realised before how she could be so "intimidating or bullying".
Asked about her labelling the Bollywood actress "Shilpa Poppadom", she said she did not think "poppadom" was a racist word.
She said that "things that I may not think are racist can actually be racist" but it was her own fault for being ignorant about other people’s cultures.

Jade caused a tabloid frenzy the minute she walked into the BB house with her idiotic questions and unbelievable lack of common sense. She asked if East Anglia was near Tunisia and if Cambridge was in London, she took her clothes off to reveal her ’kebab’, administered the infamous PJ BJ and got a minging verruca.
The tabloids branded her a fat pig and she bitched about all of her fellow housemates openly but somehow she made it through to the final four and gained thousands of fans along the way. When Jade left the house, she was interviewed on any and every chat show in the country, appeared on the cover of Heat five times (she was even their biggest selling cover star) and even had a Channel 4 follow up documentary, What Jade Did Next, made about her in the weeks following her eviction.
Having dropped three dress sizes in matter of months, the Bermondsey girl made one of the most successful exercise videos ever, even beating skinny Geri Halliwell’s yoga workout effort to the top DVD chart spot. In the meantime Jade fell in love with Jeff Brazier, Shipwrecked’s Essex wide boy and became pregnant with her first son, Bobby. Jeff and Jade have been on an off ever since, but have recently opened a tanning salon and beauty parlour together following Jade’s qualification as a beauty therapist.
Jade Goody remains a reality TV show legend most recently appearing in Celebrity Wife Swap with Millionaire cheat Major Charles Ingram while heavily pregnant and hormonal and Back To Reality, Five’s flop Big Brother rip off in which Jade showed the nation she hadn’t learnt anything new, asking James Hewitt if he’d been ’sworded’ and if wood pigeons were like ferrets.
