Jamie Cullum and Sophie Dahl have been spotted returning from a romantic break in California.

The 29-year-old supermodel apparently got together with the short jazz singer at a party a few weeks ago.

And the pair had reportedly spent a week at the posh Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills before flying home from Los Angeles International airport, reports the Daily Express.

An onlooker said: "They looked like an unusual pair at first. Sophie towered over Jamie, even though she was only wearing flip-flops.

"But she was smiling and seemed very relaxed as he puffed down the staircase with his little suitcase. It was all very sweet."

Jamie, 27, has been reportedly taking a break from touring this year to write new music and it seems he's also been focusing on his lovelife.

And Sophie, who once dated wrinkly rocker Mick Jagger, obviously doesn't mind how tall her boyfriends are.

Jamie Cullum was named best male singer of 2007 when Ronnie Scott’s jazz club held its first ever international awards ceremony.

Receiving the award last night, he said: "This is a real honour. If we’re going to have another awards ceremony we must make sure it represents the scene here in London because in Great Britain we have an amazing scene."

Jamie was a relative newcomer compared with some of the legends who attended the London event.

Van Morrison was named best international male singer of 2007 and Tony Bennett, aged 80, was awarded the Ronnie Scott’s award for lifetime achievement for services to jazz.

Mica Paris and Courtney Pine both won awards, and played to a packed crowd at the world famous venue.

Around 1500 members of the public voted for their favourite musicians and singers in the first ever awards of its kind.
