Yasmin Le Bon’s husband Simon Le Bon, lead singer of Duran Duran, is set to compete in the Fastnet Race this month despite nearly being killed when his yacht Drum capsized in gale force winds in the Fastnet Race 20 years ago. Yasmin is sure to be on tenter hooks until her husband is safely back on dry land.

Yasmin Simon’s saviour - March 05
Simon Le Bon has talked candidly about wife Yasmin.
The Duran Duran frontman has been singing his wives praises in the run up to the release of his latest single. Simon Le Bon told press that Yasmin had saved him from a deep depression and was the driving force behind DD getting back together. “Yasmin is the most amazing person, much stronger than me. She said ‘you can’t carry on like this, you’ve got to change.’ And I did.” He went on to dismiss any rumours of trouble in their marriage which have been circulating thanks to a hectic tour and publicity schedule, explaining “Yasmin loves to see the band on tour. She’s the biggest Duran fan on the planet…I guess that’s a good thing.”

Duranie new year - Jan 05
Duran Duran kick off new year with private concert. The stars turned out in their droves for an intimate evening at London’s Hammersmith Palais with eighties icons Duran Duran. Among the guests at, quite possibly, the band’s smallest gig for twenty odd years, were Simon Le Bon’s wife Yasmin, Jayne Middlemiss and Tamara Mellon. The band recently postponed their tour of Japan.

Le Bons celebrate - Jan 05
Yasmin and Simon Le Bon help celebrate engagement. The eighties pop star and his model wife were among the guests invited to celebrate singer Seal’s engagement to Heidi Klum at a New Year’s party at a glam Mexican resort. Also in attendance were film directors Sophia Coppolla and Quentin Tarentino as well as Seal’s ex Tyra Banks.

£10 Million woman - 09/12/03
Yasmin Le Bon was model chosen to wear the most expensive necklace ever to grace the shelves of Harrods.

The £10m necklace is 18 carat white gold and is built around the Blue Empress - a rare blue diamond that was mined in South Africa and cut and polished in India. It is among a collection of 11 blue diamonds mounted in settings from LA based designer Christian Tse. The necklace will be on display at the exclusive London store and auctioned off on December 23rd, so Yasmin does not get to keep it.

Harrods are hoping someone will buy it as a Christmas present. I’d like to see the shape of that Santa.

Legs Eleven! - 11/04/03

Oxford babe Yasmin Le Bon is apparently a huge fan of that sexy sport - bingo!

Yes, she has joined a host of celebrities that have spoken out about their love for the numbers game. Elle MacPherson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Charlie Dimmock and Sara Cox have all said how much they love the game - even in Robbie Williams video for ’Feel’ he takes Daryl Hannah for a game of bingo and a plate of chips!

You wouldn’t quite call Yasmin and Elle ’Two Fat Ladies’ but keep your eyes peeled the next time you go down your local bingo hall - as they may be seated behind you!

Biography

Yasmin Le Bon was born Yasmin Parvaneh on October 29, 2020 to her Iranian father and English mother. Yasmin began her modelling career at Models 1, at the almost old age of eighteen.

She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do - but everyone kept urging her to try modelling - however, one of her first jobs was hand-modelling! She says that it was hard for her in the eighties, as her slightly ethnic look hindered her from getting many US covers. But that didn’t stop her climb to grace and just when everyone really wanted her she decided to walk away - for the first time that is anyway.

The reason could have been that she had just started an affair with Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran in.  In 1985 she got married to her man in a small registry office in Oxford, very unceleb-ish. She went back to modelling after this - and had eight more successful years before retiring again just before the birth of her third daughter, Tallulah Pine (sister to Amber Rose and Saffron Sahara).

She only retired for eighteen months though - she returned to modelling in 1995 saying she had missed being pampered! Nowadays though Yasmin can pick and choose her modelling assignments and has sometimes allowed her three children to accompany her on a shoot.

A diehard supporter of cancer charities, Yasmin continues to model and even bagged herself the 21st anniversary cover of Elle magazine alongside work for Moet and Chandon, Matthew Williamson and Jenny Packham.  She has vowed that she won’t retire again until the work dries up.
