Jeremy Irons sees stars! - 14/05/03
Or rather he doesn’t around here, as Bristol has the worst light pollution problem in the South West.
Only seven out of the 12 constellations featured in the horoscopes are now visible in the night sky around Bristol, and a campaign has been launched by the British Astronomical Association (BAA) and the Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) to cut the levels of light pollution.
Jeremy said: "The wonder of the night sky is something which fewer and fewer of us are able to experience. With more thought put into lighting design, we must be able to find a better balance between our fear of the dark and our wonder at the beauty of the sky."
First Night nerves! - 05/03/03
Jeremy Irons is about to present his singing live on stage in New York, and it seems like he is a little nervous.
He is appearing in New York City Opera’s presentation of ’A Little Night Music’, which is a bittersweet Steven Sondheim musical opening on March 7th. He was recently attending a small soiree in New York and chatting about his preparations for the singing part of ’Fredrik Egerman’.
He said ’I arrived in New York slightly with my heart in my stomach. ’I always say that I hope I sing as well as Rex Harrison’ This slightly cheeky aside refers to the British star that played Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady - who famously ’talked’ his way through his singing roles. But Jeremy - the clue was the word ’musical’ when you took the part.!

But the London-based World Society for the Protection of Animals has discovered that rather than being cut, bear bile sales have soared by 25 per cent. A record number of 9,000 bears are being kept on fewer but bigger factory farms.
