John Lennon

John Lennon

Liverpool is one of Europe’s fastest growing airports.

Yoko Ono has recently forked out a fortune so that a huge billboard in Picadilly Circus can read John’s immortal line ’Imagine all the people, living life in peace’. She’s put it up because of the current extremely violent political climate. She already has one up in Times Square, New York and has also had one up in Japan.

A very simple gesture, but rather a nice one.

Yoko buys John’s old house - 19/03/02
Yoko Ono has bought the Liverpool house in which her late husband John Lennon grew up. Ono is believed to have paid more than £150,000 for 251 Menlove Avenue, where Lennon lived with his Aunt Mimi.

She plans to donate the terraced house to the National Trust because she worries that it might be bought and exploited by someone who does not respect its history.

Ono said, ’I am thrilled that we have managed to buy John’s main childhood home. It is especially pleasing that we will be able to keep such an important part of John’s and The Beatles’ history intact and out of the hands of unsympathetic private developers.’ Lennon rehearsed with the Beatles in the house and wrote Please, Please Me in one of the bedrooms.

Talk to John!
Ever wondered what John really thought of Paul? Or Yoko? Want to ask him what he thinks of Osama Bin Laden? Or who split up the Beatles? We’ve found a site that offers you this rather surreal experience and more....just type in your questions and John replies. It is him, honestly.
