New Chelsea resident Keira Knightley spent three months building up her body for a film role, and now feels unhappy with her shape.
18 year old Keira underwent three months of intense physical training to prepare for her role as Guinevere in King Arthur. Her trainer for this role was Ed Chow, the guy who got Angelina Jolie ready to kick butt as Lara Croft.
Keira told Vanity Fair magazine ’I’ve seen pictures of myself - I’m big. It freaked me out because it didn’t feel like me anymore - the shape was completely different. You can see proper muscles.’
New film rumours - The Jacket March ’04
Keira is now filming in Scotland for the film The Jacket, about which little is still known. So far, rumour has it that it is set in a post-war Vietnam, with a little girl Jackie (Laura Marano) as the main star. Keira plays Jackie in the future, as an adult reporter. The plot is still a mystery, but the costar list includes the likes of Brad Renfro, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kris Kristofferson, and Daniel Craig.

She starred in The Princess of Thieves in ’01, and then in Bend It Like Beckham in ’02, where she played the role of a football-obsessed teenager alongside the lead actress Parminder Nagra. Because she had barely touched a football until then, Keira trained intensely for three full months, practicing tricks and ball handling, Brazilian style. As Bend It Like Beckham gained in popularity, so did Keira, making a name for herself.
It was not long before Jerry Bruckheimer, the famous Hollywood producer of blockbusters like Pearl Harbor, chose her for a leading role in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (’03), starring alongside Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. The Pirates of the Caribbean went on to become a huge international box-office hit, bringing Keira’s fame to an international level.
Her latest appearance is as Guinevere in the new Disney adaptation of King Arthur’s tales. Hollywood seems to have taken a liking to her. As have Glamour magazine’s ’fashion analysts,’ who listed her as the fifth best-dressed female celebrity world-wide (Kate Moss came in number one, but she’s got about a decade of experience under the belt, if nothing else).
